1862 -Battle of Shiloh takes place in Shiloh, Tennessee -David Farragut seizes New Orleans -“Stonewall” Jackson defeats Union forces in Shenandoah Valley -Battle of Antietam ensues -Battle of Fredericksburg; McClellan is replaced by Burnside -After Battle of Fredericksburg, Burnside is replaced by Hooker

1863 -Lincoln signs the Emancipation Proclamation -The Battle of Gettysburg rages on for three days -Lincoln gives Gettysburg Address

1864 -Grant takes over Union command

-Confederate troops approach Washington D.C. -Sherman’s March to the Sea -Sherman captures Savanna -Lincoln is re-elected

1865 -The Confederacy begins to fall apart -Richmond is attacked -Sherman marches through North Carolina and South Carolina -Lee surrenders at Appomattox Courthouse -President Lincoln assassinated
