1. Data Dolphin Data loggers communicate (push or poll) over the wireless GSM network via Modbus RTU over TCP/IP protocol. 2. Data Dolphin IP addresses my be either fixed or dynamic depending on whether or not a custom APN is employed through the wireless carrier: a. Fixed IP: Wonderware can poll the Data Dolphin at the fixed IP via Modbus RTU. b. Dynamic IP: Wonderware can poll the Data Dolphin through DART (Dyanamic Address Resolution Technology) software which resides on either the same or on a separate PC. DART manages dynamic IP addresses and allows connection to the Dolphin through a common fixed IP address via specific assigned ports. 3. The Data dolphin may alternately push data to the Wonderware software on a predetermined interval via Modbus RTU. 4. Wireless data charges will depend on the frequency of data access and also on the number of sensors connected to the Dolphin.
