CIRCLE DEFINATION A circle is the locus of all points equidistant from a centre point. DEFINATION RELATED TO CIRCLE. Origin,Circumference,Arc, Diameter,Radius,Chord, Secant,Tangent,Sector
ORIGIN Origin The centre of the circle . “o” denotes the origin of circle.
CIRCUMFERENCE Circumference The distance around the circle is called the circumference of the circle.
ARC Arc A curved line that is part of the circumference of a circle is called an arc. Shaded part of a circle is the major arc. Unshaded part of a circle is called minor arc of the circle
DIAMETER Diameter The diameter of a circle is the length of the line through the centre and touching two points on its edge. “A B” is the diameter of the circle.

RADIUS Radius A line segment from the centre of a circle to a point on the circle. “O A”is a radius of the circle.

CHORD Chord A line segment within a circle that touches two points on the circle. “AB”is the chord of the circle

SECANT Secant A line which cuts the circle at two points is called secant. “AB” is the secant of the circle.

TANGENT Tangent A line that touches circle only at one point is called tangent to the circle “AB” is the tangent to the circle . A

SECTOR Sector A part of the interior of a cicle bounded by two radii and an arcis called sector of a circle. “AOB”is the sector of a circle
