In addition to the standard detection of C.albicans, the detection of C.tropicalis and C.krusei, which tend to be more resistant to antifungal agents, is important to optimize antifungal treatment especially for immunocompromised patients. Powerful and easy detection of mixed yeast cultures is particularly useful to detect antifungal resistant strains even present in the sample as a minor population. References: (1) Odds, F.C. and R.
