o Teachers, please call, call, call your students who are absent!!! Next week’s lesson: A Whale of a Tale Power Point: Disobedience brings trouble. Memory Verse: If you follow your selfish desires, you will harvest destruction, but if you follow the Spirit, you will harvest eternal life. (Galatians 6:8) Bible Lesson Scripture: Jonah 1:1-2:10 (The Story of Jonah) Lesson Overview:

It doesn’t take a lot of experience to know that some kids are more prone to getting into trouble than others. Certain kids have a hard time keeping quiet when it’s time to listen—others are “professional” aggravators. Some are ready to challenge authority at every opportunity—others simply tune out when they’re supposed to be tuning in. The factors that make some children more prone to misbehave vary from child to child. Misbehavior can stem from poor parenting, family problems, absent fathers, hyperactivity, low selfesteem, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, spiritual strongholds, poor diet and many other factors. However, the central truth in this lesson is the same, whatever the reason for misbehavior: Disobedience brings trouble. Some kids are so used to getting into trouble that they’ve come to believe that they can’t help themselves. They seem to think that they’re automatically going to disobey and suffer consequences, so they may as well get some pleasure out of it. T.E.D. (3rd Elem. Dept.) is the perfect place to instill in these kids the truth that God has wired them for getting more pleasure out of good behavior than bad. Here are some things you can do to improve the behavior of all kids in your ministry: 1. Regularly pray for the children and their needs. 2. Plan and lead the T.E.D. service effectively. Most misbehavior will be corralled if you do. 3. Keep T.E.D. rules few and simple, and enforce them consistently. 4. Reward kids for good behavior. Strive to catch kids at being good. 5. Give as little attention as possible to poor behavior. It’s best for helpers to correct problems rather than the leader correcting children from the stage. 6. Keep short accounts. This means every kid gets a fresh start every week.
