CHAPTER V SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of findings, conclusion and recommendations of the study entitled “Multimedia Presentation in Teaching Plants among Grade V Pupils”. The respondents were the Grade V pupils of Mahayahay Elementary School during the school year 2006-2007. The pretest were given on the first day and the posttest was administered every after the class discussions. The test is composed of 30 items.

Summary of Findings: Based on the data gathered on the tables the following findings were revealed. 1. There is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest of the respondents exposed to multimedia presentation and lecture method. 2. Respondents belong to the multimedia presentation raised higher scores than the respondents exposed to lecture method. In which, the mean scores of lecture method is 18.70 while 23.70 for the multimedia presentation on posttest only. 3. The t-value and the sig. (2-tailed) show that there is a significant difference between the performance of the respondents in their pretest and posttest scores.

4. Most of the respondents accepted the multimedia presentation with the use of power point presentation in their class to be administered. 5. Based on the perception checklist and journal, respondents wanted that power point presentation should use in the class. 6. Based on the writing journals made by the respondents, it shows that they have a difficulty in grammar and spelling.

Conclusions: Based on the preceding findings of the study, the following conclusions were set. 1. There is a significant difference between the scores of the respondents exposed to multimedia presentation and lecture method. 2. The respondents accepted and wanted that power point presentation should be administered in their science class. 3. Power point presentation makes the learner to motivate and encourage interest for they enjoy in viewing images and pictures. 4. The multimedia presentation had a better effect to the topic plants since it can enhanced the scores of the pupils well compared to lecture method. 5. There is a significant difference on the performance of the respondents in there pretest and posttest scores. 6. The respondents had a difficulty on grammar and spelling. Recommendations:

1. Multimedia material should be placed inside the classroom specially the used of power point presentation for it can enhance learning and developed interest of the pupils or better understanding. 2. Computers should be placed in any classroom so that it makes teaching easy an effective.
