JCISE Special Issue: CALL for PAPERS Simulation and Gaming for Engineering Scope: JCISE is soliciting papers for a Special Issue on “Simulation and Gaming for Engineering”. We welcome full-length research papers (9000 words), as well as, application papers and technical briefs (5000 word) that address implementation issues. Authors are asked to send a short abstract (200 words) and title to the Guest Editors, prior to submitting the full paper. The objective is to explore, investigate and make aware how simulation and gaming technologies and associated methods can be employed to revolutionise engineering applications; provide a means to understand what engineers do; how they work including enhancing the way in which they carry out their activities throughout the whole product life cycle. Gaming and simulation technologies have come a long way, especially in the 3D domain; yet modern technological advances in this area have not readily been copied and applied to product design, analysis or manufacturing, and to promote the learning and understanding of engineering science. Submissions are welcomed, but not limited to the following areas: gaming and simulation methodologies for engineering applications, the application and evaluation of virtual environments which engage participants in engineering problem solving, gaming-engineering diversity awareness, knowledge engineering in product design, analysis and manufacturing. Topics: The following is a list of possible topics. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list and other related topics will be considered. ASME guidelines limit the size of the paper to 9000 words. Research papers (9000 words)  Game-based environments for product engineering, collaboration design, authoring and evaluation.  Simulation and games/physics engines for engineering processes and applications (e.g. CAD/CAM, analysis and manufacturing).  3D devices and gaming technologies for engineering (e.g. VR, haptics, biometric interactive systems).  Applications of gaming hardware, game based methodologies/architectures for manufacturing (e.g. macro & micro-planning in CNC machining, fixture planning, DfM & DfA)  Game console/hardware solutions for engineering and manufacturing applications.  Planning new manufacturing technologies (e.g. nano, bio) using game and simulation technologies  Process Knowledge Representation & Capture (e.g. Knowledge-based systems, artificial intelligent systems, agent-based approaches and technologies, cognitive science, human factors, data management)  Simulation and gaming approaches to Systems engineering Case studies (2000-5000 words)  Experience with commercial tools  Industrial applications, pilot projects  Verification of principle engineering simulations  Game-based learning and problem solving for engineering  Human-computer interaction design and modelling.  Analysis, design and evaluation of complex systems of people and technology (e.g. Psychological and behavioural user-based evaluations of game-type product engineering interfaces and systems, datamining of manufacturing data).
