CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM The part of nervous system which occupies the central axis of the body is called CNS. It comprises of brain and spinal cord Brain It is covered by three membranes called meninges- Dura , arachnoid and piameter It is divided into three parts Fore brain Mid brain Hind brain Fore brain - It consist of two cerebral hemispheres that are connected to each pother by bundles of nerve fibers known as corpus callosum. Mid brain - It is divided into two parts by aqueduct of sylvius. Hindbrain - It comprises of pons, medulla oblongata and cerebellum NOTE: Midbrain, medulla and pons together constitute the brainstem. It contains all the cranial nerve nuclei.
