Brief Write-up
It is a Seatless & Glandless valve.
Pinch valve is a modified version of laboratory pinchcock. A rubber sleeve is protected under a cast iron casting. The fluid passing through do not come in contact with either body covering or any other metal parts of the valve except the sleeve. Hence the body and other metal parts are almost permanently not subjected to the corrosive action of the fluid. The flow through the valve is straight and full as that of a pipeline, when the valve is fully open. Further, the collar of the sleeve eliminates gasket. The valve is simple hand wheel operated of rising wheel type. Therefore the operation of the valve is just simple as other wheel operated valve. The in-between stoppage will allow the desired throttling.

APPLICATION: Pinch valve finds its best application in handling corrosive slurry, abrasive media, liquid with solid suspensions and many others, which are difficult to handle with seat valve.

Operating Manual
THE PINCH VALVE is a modified version of the laboratory pinchcock. A rubber sleeve is protected under a Cast iron or Aluminum split body casting. The valve is a simple hand wheel operated of rising wheel type. The operation of the valve is same as other hand wheel operated valve, it closes when moved in clockwise direction and opens when moved in anticlockwise direction. The in-between stoppage will allow the desired throttling. Thus the valve offers positive control over flowing media. The flow through the valve is same as that of a pipeline, when the valve is in fully opened condition. Further, the rubber sleeve eliminates the need of a gasket. PRELIMINARY PRECAUTION: On receipt of the valve please check the position of the valve, as it is advisable to keep the valve in fully opened condition. Also check the position of the travel limit nut, if found loose then tighten the set screw of the nut. INSTALLATION: The valve can be installed without any gasket unless it is required for some specific purpose. Tighten the nut of the flanges evenly & equally, but avoid too much tightening. After installation check the free movement of the upper & lower pinching bar by opening & closing the valve. The valve is then ready for the service it is installed for. MAINTENANCE: If the valve is found leaking through the seat after sometime even though in fully closed condition, then set the travel limit nut by just taking it 1 or 2 threads above & then tighten. This will allow more room for travelling of rubber sleeve & ensure the valve to zero leakage. This problem sometimes occurs when the sleeve is slightly worn out, when used under abrasive condition. Further, The Rubber sleeve of the valve upto 2” (50mm) have a single lug on either side and it goes into the hollow passage of the pinching bar where it is fixed with the lug clamping screws. In the higher sizes above 2” the sleeves have two lugs on either sides and is fitted overlapping the pinching bar. DISMANTLING THE VALVE & REPLACING THE RUBBER SLEEVE : When the rubber sleeve is ruptured or totally worn out then it is to be replaced with a new one. In this case first dismantle the valve by following the instructions. 1. Remove the hand wheel. 2. Open the Tie Bar nuts. 3. Disconnect the spindle from the Horseshoe connection and remove it completely with the bridge. 4. REMEMBER not to temper the set screw of the yoke bush, unless if required it should be completely tight. 5. Open out the nuts & bolts of the split body of the valve. 6. Remove the screw of the lugs from both the pinching bars. 7. Now fit the new rubber sleeve & reverse the operation to assemble the complete valve. NOTE : It is advisable to keep a spare rubber sleeve for maintenance purpose, considering the self life of the Rubber as six months when packed & stored in dark. The Pinch valves should be stored in fully open condition only. We also offer complete spares of the valves, but request you to place your order a week in advance. A.B.PANCHAL & CO. Brief Write-up on It is a Seatless & Glandless valve The valve up to the size 6” does not have any stuffing box. The salient feature of this valve is that of the piston operation. The piston slides between the two packing rings made of asbestos PTFE and does not rotate; hence there is minimum ware. The only warring part is the packing ring and that to after an extensive use. A ported lantern bush separates the two packing rings. The bottom ring rests on a cast machined groove of the body and upper packing ring is being held and remained pressed by a bonnet on top. The bonnet rests on the top ring, when tightened evenly by the nut of the stud presses the lantern bush, which in turn presses the bottom ring. This is done by keeping the valve in closed position. Thus the mechanism is aligned compressed and ready for operation. Here the bottom ring of the valve serves the purpose of the seat while the upper ring serves the purpose of a gland. The advantage of the valve is when any leakage is observed from the hole of the bonnet, specially provided for this purpose; it can be stopped on the line. This is done by tightening the nut of the bonnet evenly, keeping the valve in closed position. The maximum thickness of the ring is utilized and when the valve cannot be further tightened to stop the leakage, It is only required to replace the packing rings. This can be done on the line itself. The pressure drop in this valve is considered as high as 18%.
APPLICATION: The valve finds it's best application in control of steam & thermic fluid line. The valve also has numerous applications in the control of liquids and gases also.
RANGE: The valves can be supplied in various metal constructions to suit the condition. The valves are available in ND/16 and ND/25 rating. The flange of piston valve can be supplied in accordance to BS, DIN, ASA, IS dimensions. The range for the valve is from 15 mm to 150mm
ACTUATION: The valves can be supplied with electrical and pneumatic actuation A.B.PANCHAL & CO. Telefax: 079- 562 1027 Cellphone: 0- 98250 36163.

Operating Manual All ‘ABPCO’ Piston valves can be kept permanently tight without trouble. Shortly after the valves are first put into service, the cover nuts should be lightly tightened with the valve in the closed position, So as to compress the valve-packing ring firmly around the position. WHEN A LEAK DEVELOPES do not allow it to continue, because it is easy to correct it with an ordinary spanner. 1> Shut the valve fully. 2> Tighten each cover nuts 1/8th of a turn. 3> If the leak is slight & has not persisted for any length of time, this will be found sufficient, IF NOT, then repeat the process until the valve is steam tight. IT IS IMPORTANT to follow instruction no.1, If the cover nuts are tighten down with the valve open then the bottom ring may be compressed in the passage and get damaged by the Piston when the valve is again closed. NO UNDUE FORCE should be used in tightening the nuts; they should move easily with a standard spanner of the corresponding size & should be tightened equally to avoid tilting of the cover. Also never use a wheel spanner on the hand wheel, as there is no use of any undue force to shut the valve, this may simply damage the spindle. LIFE OF THE RINGS The above process may be repeated as & when required until the rings are worn out & required to be replaced. TO REPLACE NEW PISTON it is a simple matter as they are provided with a machined Horseshoe slot. In some cases the piston are fitted by means of a split washer and nut. To replace new Pistons & new rings, the following points should be noted. • All nuts have left hand threads. • The pistons are accurately machined & carefully finished, If it is necessary to hold the piston while fitting, then it should be griped between a soft wooden clamp to avoid damaging the surface. Ø Open the valve wide. Ø Remove the cover nuts. Ø Screw down the spindle (turn right) to lift the cover off the studs. Ø Turn the cover so that it rests on top of the studs. Ø Screw spindle up (turn Left) to withdraw piston from rings. Ø Lift off cover parts, taking care to avoid scratching the piston. Ø Use only genuine ‘ABPCO’ valve rings. Ø Insert a new ring & drive it gently home using a punch / a short bar metals or wood having a slight small diameter than that of the ring. Tap the punch with the hammer lightly & drive the ring till the bottom of the bore. Ø Replace the lantern bush, it should enter the bottom bore & sit flat on the ring. Ø Insert the top ring by the same way as the bottom. TO REMOVE OLD RINGS use a tang of an old file or screwdriver bent at right angle to form a hook, now pull out the top ring, lantern bush & then the bottom ring. REPLACE THE VALVE COVER by following the below mentioned points Ø See that the piston is in good condition, enter the piston through the passage between the rings and replace the cover. Ø Screw down the cover nuts lightly, then screw down the hand wheel (turn right) then unscrew (Turn left) drawing the cover into position. Ø Run the nuts down, shut the valve & tighten with spanner evenly just enough to grip the rings. Ø Make sure that the cover is sitting square on the valve body REMEMBER; when the valve is first under service, the cover nuts should be tightened lightly & evenly with the valve in closed position, this will enable to settle the rings firmly around the piston. This will increase the life of the rings & failure to this may result in premature leakage. Also note that that the cover nuts should not be tighten without the BELLEVILLE washers.
