As a general rule, if your child’s head is higher than the back of the child restraint, move them into the next size of child restraint. New Zealand law requires that any child under five years is properly restrained by an approved child restraint. They must not travel in the car if you can’t put them in an approved child restraint.

Drivers Licences All drivers of the rental vehicle must produce, prior to the commencement of hire, a current New Zealand, or English language driver’s licence. Other driver’s licences are happily accepted with a validated English translation. All current International Licences are accepted. Mileage Charges Our rates include unlimited mileage. Bond An embossed credit card will be required at the time of vehicle collection, as a credit card imprint or the applicable Insurance Excess (deductible) amount in cash is required to be held as a bond until the end of the hire. Refer to Insurance Excess amounts below. The hirer/cardholder agrees that if he/she has presented a credit charge by way of bond or payment for the hire, that any consequential liability arising out of the Agreement may be billed directly to this credit card, and that the Cardholder’s signature will be deemed to have been made on the appropriate charge voucher.

One Way Hires Vehicles may be hired between any two of our depots at no additional one way charge subject to availability.(Please note that minimum hire periods may apply to this facility and if no vehicles are available from your desired pick-up location you will be advised of any relocation costs at the time of enquiry). Ferry Crossing between North and South Islands When crossing between the North and South Islands you may choose to retain the same vehicle for the duration of your hire for your added convenience, or you may wish to drop one vehicle in Picton or Wellington then uplift another vehicle in the other Island. (Please note that a minimum hire period may apply to ‘split hires’). As Booking Agents for the InterIslander Ferries, we are able to arrange both passenger and vehicle bookings for you. Duration of Hire The duration of hire shall be as described in the rental agreement. One days’ hire is 24 hours and additional hours may incur an additional charge. Return of the Vehicle The hirer shall at or before the expiry of the term of hire, deliver the vehicle to the owner’s specified place of business or at the location specified in the Agreement. Early Return of the Vehicle 48 hours notice is required if the hirer intends to return the vehicle prior to the specified termination of hire date for any refund claim to be considered. The daily rate on any discounted or special rates may be recalculated at standard rates. Extension of Hire If the hirer wishes to extend the rental period whilst the vehicle is on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from the company. Extensions would be granted subject to availability. Cancellations – Unless 14 days cancellation notice is given, a 10% cancellation fee and any applicable relocation fees, will be due to ‘About New Zealand Rental Group’. No Show If a booking has been confirmed by way of a deposit and the hirer does not ‘show up’ or any notification has been received by us at least 24 hours prior to the pickup time, we reserve the right to cancel the booking after 12 hours of the scheduled pick-up time, and charge you a minimum of three days rental. After-hours Vehicle Collections Vehicle pick-up and drop-off hours are 8am – 6pm.

Vehicle pick-up where the contract is written outside these hours is by prior arrangement and will incur an additional NZ$40 late/early fee. Airport Drop-off By prior arrangement, vehicles may be left at the airport at the end of the hire. This will incur an airport parking and collection fee of NZ$30 . Additional Payments by Hirer In addition to the payment for the hire of the vehicle, the hirer shall also pay for fuel used during the hire, puncture repairs, and the cost of replacement for keys that have become lost, broken or locked in the vehicle. Vehicle Insurance and Collision Damage Reduction (CDR). Our rates include comprehensive insurance for the vehicle. This covers damage to both the rental car and third party vehicles or property, up to a value of NZ $1,000,000 . This insurance carries an excess (deductible), which means if an accident or damage occurs while the car is on hire the hirer is liable for the relevant excess or the cost of repair, whichever is the lesser amount. The excess applies to damage to the vehicle or damage caused by the vehicle. The following insurance excess liabilities and reductions apply:Option One - Included in Daily hire rate Available to Drivers 21 years of age or over who hold a full Driver Licence. •

Vehicle Excess amounts same as above in Option 1 above.

Option Three – Silver Insurance Cover – Additional $10.00 per day on Cars, Stationwagons and RAV4's and an additional NZ$15 per day on Large 4WD's

and Peoplemovers. Available to Drivers 21 years of age or over who hold a full Driver Licence. •

Vehicle excess liability reduced to $500 incl. GST and Windscreen liability reduced to NZ$0 .

Option Four - Gold Insurance Cover – Additional $15.00 per day on Cars, Stationwagons and RAV4's and an additional NZ$20 per day on Large 4WD's and Peoplemovers. Available for Drivers 21 years of age or over who hold a full Driver Licence. •

Vehicle Excess liability reduced to $0 incl. GST and Windscreen liability reduced to NZ$0 . N.B. Excess Reduction is not available to drivers under 21 years of age, or drivers who do not hold a full current Driver Licence. Insurance excess reduction options do not cover puctures or tyre damage caused by the hirer's mis-use, damage caused from the mis-use of snow chains or roof rack systems, the cost to replace keys which have been lost or broken, the cost of retrieval of keys which have been locked inside the vehicle.

The hirer/cardholder is liable in respect of the excess (deductible) amount for any loss or damage irrespective of fault to the vehicle during the term of hire. Exclusions to Insurance The indemnities referred to above shall not apply where the damage, injury, or loss arises when The driver of the vehicle is under the influence of alcohol or any drug that may affect his/her ability to drive the vehicle. • The vehicle is in an unsafe or unroadworthy condition that arose during the course of the hire and such condition caused or contributed to the damage or loss, and the hirer or driver was aware or ought to have been aware of the unsafe or unroadworthy condition of the vehicle. • The vehicle is operated in any race, speed test, rally or contest. • The vehicle is driven by any person not named as a driver in the rental agreement. •

The vehicle is driven by any person who at the time when he/she drives the vehicle is disqualified from holding or has never held a driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle. • Any action or inaction of the hirer or other authorised driver may be deemed to be careless, reckless, imprudent or irresponsible or may be deemed to be contrary to the actions a prudent person would take in the care of their own property. • The vehicle is operated on any of the excluded roads, on any beach or offroad • The vehicle is operated outside the terms of the hire or any authorised extension of those terms. • The vehicle is driven under circumstances where Police would normally press charges for careless use or dangerous driving or where Police do not attend the accident. • Any extra’s supplied with the vehicle (ie. ski/snow board racks, snow chains, baby seats etc.). The cost of repair, cleaning or replacement will be the hirers’ responsibility. • Any damage that is caused to the vehicle due to the incorrect fitting of accessories or extras. • All costs arising from any exclusion to insurance are at the sole risk of the hirer, who shall indemnify the owner in full for any such loss. It is agreed between the owner and the hirer that section 11 of the insurance law reform act 1977 shall apply to the above exclusions as if this clause constituted a contract of insurance. •

Owners Obligations The owner shall to the best of their ability supply the vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition. The owner shall be responsible for all ordinary and extraordinary costs of running of the vehicle during the term of hire, except to the extent that by the terms of the agreement those costs are payable by the hirer. In the event of an Accident or Vehicle Damage In the event of an accident or vehicle damage that renders the vehicle unroadworthy, the Owner may at their sole discretion supply a replacement vehicle subject to availability, at their nearest branch / agency. In these circumstances the owner will not be responsible for the cost of transporting the hirer or any accompanying passengers away from the accident location, or the cost of transporting a replacement vehicle to the accident location.
