Why Student Ministry is so important… In our differences, we are the same. We are a wide spectrum of people, with distinctive traits and talents, each reflecting a different characteristic of God. Each of us is playing a role in a saga so big that it cannot be confined by time or space. In our pocket of isolation, we search for significance and yearn for true community. So we come together, broken and injured, looking for a place to rest. Some come to support, some come to be healed, in coming together, we are made whole. We all come to be known, to matter. We are here as more than just a number or a statistic. We are here because we were created to bring value. We are here to make her laugh, to cause him to think, to convict them, and to grow. We are here to be more than just ONE person, ONE failure, ONE sinner, or ONE saint. We are here as a part of the ONES. And we are here...Because we were never meant to be alone. We were never meant to be alone. Community has been apart of God’s plan since He created Eve to bring Adam community. It’s that time of year when we fill our schedules up and our lives get busy. Busyness sometimes leads us to aloneness. We can get so busy and caught up in our schedule that we don’t reserve time for deep authentic relationships. This is why the Hazel Dell Student Ministry provides Life Groups, to fill the community gap in students’ lives. Making a Case for Community: Theological Evidence-because of the community that God exists in (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), we find it very important to provide students with community. Sociological Evidence-we were designed for dependence upon God and interdependence with other people. God created us for community and designed us to be in relationships. 3. Organizational Evidence-because in small groups we can broaden our span of care for students.

Parents, O want to invite you to a parent gathering on Saturday, January 12 from 7:008:30 p.m. at the home of Wayne & Kathy Crane. There is limited space for this gathering so please RSVP Sandy at 846-9828. I also wanted to thank those parents who have been partnering with the Student Ministry to provide Extreme child care and food on Sunday nights. Your involvement in the Student Ministry assists us in building relationships with students that will stand the weight of truth. Many parents can not be involved in the Student Ministry because of other commitments, but nonetheless, you have played a vital role in the Student Ministry. Thank you,
Jimmy Scott, Youth Minister Phone: (317) 846-9828 ext. 303

The Heart of Hazel Dell Student Ministry is to build relational bridges with students that will stand the weight of God’s truth. This ministry serves 7th grade through High School. The Student Ministry has a team of youth coaches who are committed to developing this relational bridge to help students honor God with their whole life. One way in which we build these relational bridges is through our student worship service, Extreme. We are very intentional in what and how we communicate to students and have put together a curriculum plan for 2007-2008 school year. We will begin the New Year with the check point “Others First” and conclude WAVE 2 with the check point “Spiritual Disciplines”.
Others First: Scripture teaches that God has created you to do good works and that he has given you unique gifts and talents. Discovering those gifts and using them to make an investment in others is a key to lifelong fulfillment. Selfishness comes naturally to us. Selflessness, however, must be learned. The Bible says that Jesus “made Himself nothing” in order to serve the people He loved. He put the needs of others ahead of His own. This checkpoint focuses on the true nature of humility and service. Critical Question: Are you putting the needs of others ahead of your own? Spiritual Disciplines: God designed you to have a relationship with Him. Your intimacy with Him will provide the foundation you need to face whatever life can possibly throw at you. His friendship with you provides the ultimate fulfillment and security. The focus of this checkpoint is your devotional life. The apostle Paul says that true spiritual transformation begins with a renewed mind. Only as you begin to renew your mind according to the truths of Scripture will your attitudes and behaviors begin to change. Critical Question:Are you developing a consistent devotional and prayer life?
