Question 1 Each branch of the government has powers over each other. The Executive branch has the power to pick Justices for the Supreme Court. There are three offices in the Executive branch. What are they?

Question 6 The first 10 amendments are called the Bill of Rights. The term Bill of Rights originates from Britain. It referred to a bill that was passed in parliament in 1689. This amendment is not part of the Bill of Rights. What does amendment 22 state?

There is a system that involves the three branches of government that makes it so no branch has more power than the others. For example, the President (who is in the executive branch) can appoint anyone he wants to be on the Supreme Court. But, the Legislative branch has to approve of this appointment. Question 9 The first American Flag was sown in 1776. It was sown by Betsy Ross. The flag consists of 13 red and white stripes. How many stars are on the American flag, and what do they represent?

Question 10 The first 10 amendments were created by James Madison. He introduced them to the first Congress in 1789. The Congress liked them and were put into affect on December 15, 1791. What does amendment 3 state? a) Troops may not be quartered into homes in peacetime. b) Freedom of speech, the press, and religion. c) Anyone has the right to bear arms.



Q1- We felt it important that a US citizen should know who was in the Executive Branch so they knew how part of our government was run by.



Q2- A follow up on Q1 but on the Legislative Branch.



Q3- We thought that everyone in the US should know our national anthem. It is very important in our history.



Q4- We thought every US citizen should know when the US became a democracy. This is probably one of the most important dates in our country.



Q5- We thought that the very first amendment was very important because the US would not be where we are right now without this amendment.



Q6- We thought knowing the 22nd amendment was an important question because term limits are important so we won’t be under one leadership for more than 8 years.



Q7- We thought knowing that there are 9 judges on the Supreme Court would be important because with 9 judges decisions can never come to a tie and the decision is not up to one person.



Q8- We thought knowing the system of Checks and Balances would be important because if one branch was overpowering the other two things might go crazy.



Q9- We though knowing what the starts and stripes on the flag meant would be important because it is an important part of both our geographic history and our countries history.



Q10- We thought it would be important to know the 3rd amendment because if troops were ever quartered into your home during peacetime you could do something about it.
