But Jesus Never Taught Depravity From EJ Hill & Friends
Significance IN OBJECTION TO TOTAL DEPRAVITY, THE INTERACTIVE BIBLE MINISTRY, ASKS THE QUESTION: "WHY DID JESUS NEVER TEACH THAT MAN WAS DEPRAVED OR BLAMED MAN'S SIN ON ADAM? RATHER HE ALWAYS HELD EACH MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN SIN?" [1]

My Response Well, in reality, Jesus did teach Total Depravity. In Matthew chapter 6 we find Him teaching a multitude, saying: "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. IF THEREFORE THE LIGHT THAT IS IN THEE BE DARKNESS, HOW GREAT IS THAT DARKNESS! No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." (Mt. 6v22-24, AKJV, p.423) Also in Matthew chapter 7, still busy with the same group of people, Jesus continued: "Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but A CORRUPT TREE BRINGETH FORTH EVIL FRUIT. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, NEITHER CAN A CORRUPT TREE BRING FORTH GOOD FRUIT." (Mt. 7v17-18, AKJV, p.424) "He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, BUT TO THEM IT IS NOT GIVEN. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: BUT WHOSOEVER HATH NOT, FROM HIM SHALL BE TAKEN EVEN THAT HE HATH. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: ..." (Mt. 13v11-14, AKJV, p.427) We also find Jesus, alone with the twelve and those with them, in Mark chapter 4, saying: "Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: BUT UNTO THEM THAT ARE WITHOUT, ALL THESE THINGS ARE DONE IN PARABLES: THAT SEEING THEY MAY SEE, AND NOT PERCEIVE; AND HEARING THEY MAY HEAR, AND NOT UNDERSTAND; LEST AT ANY TIME THEY SHOULD BE CONVERTED, AND THEIR SINS SHOULD BE FORGIVEN THEM. And He said unto them, Know ye not this parable? And how then will you know all parables?" (Mk. 4v11-13, AKJV, p.439) In Luke chapter 6 verses 43-45 we find Jesus teaching His disciples: "For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; NEITHER DOTH A CORRUPT TREE BRING

FORTH GOOD FRUIT. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and AN EVIL MAN OUT OF THE EVIL TREASURE OF HIS HEART BRINGETH FORTH THAT WHICH IS EVIL: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." (Lk. 6v43-45, AKJV, p.453) In Luke chapter 8 verse 10, teaching His disciples: "Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: BUT TO OTHERS IN PARABLES; THAT SEEING THEY MIGHT NOT SEE, AND HEARING THEY MIGHT NOT UNDERSTAND." (Lk. 8v10, AKJV, p.454) In John chapter 6 verse 44, Jesus makes it very clear that: "NO MAN CAN COME TO ME, EXCEPT THE FATHER WHICH HATH SENT ME DRAW HIM: and I will raise him up at the last day." (Jn. 6v44, AKJV, p.471) "Therefore said I unto you, that NO MAN CAN COME UNTO ME, EXCEPT IT WERE GIVEN UNTO HIM OF MY FATHER." (Jn. 6v65, AKJV, p.471) "But though He had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on Him: That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore THEY COULD NOT BELIEVE, BECAUSE THAT ESAIAS SAID AGAIN, HE HATH BLINDED THEIR EYES, AND HARDENED THEIR HEART; THAT THEY SHOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES, NOR UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED, AND I SHOULD HEAL THEM." (Jn. 12v37-40, AKJV, p.475)
