Stake holders Conference on “Business Process Outsourcing and Knowledge Process Outsourcing Industry - Leveraging Information Technology & Biotechnology Knowledge Resources” October 24, 2007 (9.30 am to 2 pm) Organised by Association of Knowledge Workers, Lucknow (AKWL) And Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow (JIML) Objectives of the meet BPO sector in India has evolved radically over the past few years. From mere call centre operations, the sector today provides range of deliverables in the area of transaction services, process management, business transformation and analytics services. Over the last decade the outsourcing industry has been one of the fastest growing industries in India. In FY07, the entire industry is worth over $8.7 billion and employs more than half a million people. Mr Pramod Bhasin, President & CEO, Genpact said “KPO and BPO are inseparable”. Now a days customers demand end to end solutions. This can be offered by combining deep vertical experience and knowledge. The event will showcase Lucknow as the preferred BPO/KPO destination whose highly educated workforce could be leveraged by corporations to further their competitive advantage. The conference has been planned with the intent to spread awareness about KPO & BPO, the issues and challenges being faced by the industry including highly skilled manpower shortage and to identify, deliberate and highlight the key issues of concern that influence the willingness of companies in the BPO and KPO domain to invest and operate from Lucknow. According to a study conducted by industry body ASSOCHAM on

'Outsourcing industry strategies to counter appreciation of rupee' has indicated that various companies in the Indian IT/ITeS industry are relocating their operations to Tier II and Tier III Indian cities, such as Lucknow, Kochi, Varanasi, Mohali, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, etc., to reduce their operational costs by about 15 percent. The enablers that would facilitate this process include a number of stakeholders, fresh pass out and final year students of B.Tech/ M.Tech, MBA and MCA, Research scholars, BPO Managers, as resource persons required by the industry, Government being facilitator and regulator for good governance, infrastructure provider, creates good business environment Business and career opportunities: Industry leaders of BPO and KPO to make presentations, for awareness and insight, tell success stories about BPO and KPO industry, so that budding professionals may join the industry as employee or entrepreneurs.
