To calculate Greenwich Mean Time (GMT):
If the GMT is positive, we must subtract (-), but if the GMT is negative, we must add (+)
For example: Thailand is +07:00, so we must subtract (+07:00 – 07:00 = 00:00 GMT) Vancouver is -08:00. so we must add (-08:00 + 08:00 = 00:00 GMT)
Calculating GMT
If the local time in Thailand (+07:00) is 15:00.
To calculate GMT:
15:00 – 07:00 = 08:00 GMT
If the local time in Vancouver (-08:00) is 15:00.
To calculate GMT:
15:00 + 08:00 = 23:00 GMT
Calculating Time Difference
If the local time in Thailand (+07:00) is 15:00, what is the local time in Vancouver (-08:00)?
1st: calculate GMT: 15:00 – 07:00 = 08:00 GMT 2nd: calculate Vancouver local time: 08:00 GMT – 08:00 Vancouver GMT Vancouver Local Time is 00:00 Or, Vancouver local time is midnight.
