INTODUCTION TO COMMUNICATION  INTRODUCTION TO BSNL  5-ESS SWITCH  REQUIREMENT OF 5-ESS SWITCH  ELEMENT OF 5-ESS SWITCH  APPLICATION OF SWITCH 

 

COMMUNICATION MEANS SHARING INFORMATION AND RESOURCES. “TELEPHONE” IS A COMBINATION OF TWO GREEK WORDS “TELE” MEANS “FAR: AND “PHONE” MEANS “VOICE AND SOUND”. IN 1874 ALEXANDER GRAMBELL INVENTED THE PRINCIPLE OF TELEPHONE. “MR. WATSON COME HERE”. NOW TODAY, TELECOMMUNICATION HAVE CROSSED ALL BOUNDARIES, WITH MOBILE AND SATELLITE TECHNOLOGIES.

IT HAS 47 MILLION ACCESS LINE ACROSS INDIA.  IT OFFER FOLLOWING SERVICES IN INDIA.  LANDLINES  GSM AND CDMA SERVICES IN WIRELESS  SATELLITE COMMUNICATION  INTERNET  TELEGRAPH 

IN THIS SERVICE BSNL IS FOR 100 YEARS.  32 THOUSAND ELECTRONIC EXCHANGE.  326 DIGITAL TRUNK AUTOMATIC EXCHANGES(TAX),DIGITA L PULIC SWITCH TELEPHONE NETWORK(PSTN).  TELEPHONE NETWORK INTERLINK 2.4LAKHS KMS. OF OPTICAL FIBRE. 

 OUTDOOR

NETWORK 1. MAIN DISTRIBUTION FRAME(MDF) 2. DISTRIBUTION FRAME(DP) 3. PILLAR  TRANSMISSION LINE SUBSCRIBER T0 EXCHANGE (LOCAL EXCHANGE) 2. EXCHANGE TO EXCHANGE(TANDEM EXCHANGE) 1.

 INDOOR

NETWORK 1. SWITCHING SYSTEM 2. MODULATIN PROCESS

 EWSD  AXE

OF SIEMEN(GERMANY).

OF ERICSSON(SWEDEN).

 CHENNAI

FETEX(JAPAN).

 OCB

OF ATCATEL(FRANCE).

 5ESS

OF AT&T(USA)

 SYSTEM  NEAX

X3 OF GDT(UK).

OF NEX(JAPAN)

IT IS DIGITAL EXCHANGE THAT SERVE AS A LOCAL,TOLL,TANDEM AND OSPS.

IT CAN SERVE 100 TO I.0 LAKH SUBCRIBERS

 IT

IS HIGHLY RELIABLE.

 IT’S

MAIN ADVANTAGE IS THAT IT CAN BE

CONTROLLED BY ANY METRO LOCATION

ANALOG SYSTEM

DIGITAL SYSTEM

translating it into electronic pulses.

represented by a series of "1"s and "0"s.

It's not that complicated a concept

The process is complicated.

it's fairly inexpensive to use.

It is expensive.

Distortion may occur at receiving end

distortion-free data received at the end

It does not provide multiple services over a single channel

It provide multiple services over common channel.

Analog gives better quality

Digital give better quality but less than analog

Some part it is great technology

Today, we need this technology

 IT

PERFORM 95% OF THE CALL PROCESSING AND MAINTANENCE FUNTION.  LINE AND TRUNK SCANNING  TONE GENERATION  DIGITAL ANALYSIS  CALL ROUTING  CIRCUIT AND PACKET SWITCHING  ANNOUCEMENT  ROUTINE MAINTANENCE 1. CALL WAITING 2. ABBREVAITION DAILLING 3. CALL DIVERSION 4. CONFERENCE CALL

MSCS:  MSCU (message switch control unit)-provides control over the MSPU.  MSPU (message switch peripheral unit)Processes control time slot. ONTC:  CMCU (communications module control unit)Provides timing and control.  TMSU (time multiplexed switch unit)- terminates NCT links and switches data and control time slots between them.

AM FUNCTION:  *Administrative data processing  *Traffic Measurement – System performance report  *Memory Management  *System Maintenance  *Allocating trunks for call processing.

STEP INVOLVE IN CALL PROCESSING

Origination  Digit analysis  Routing/Screening  Charging  Termination 
