BOARH OE SPECIFIC JURISDICTION Are you interested in the Catholic education of our children? The Office of Catholic Schools is encouraging arid fostering the development of a Board cjf Specified Jurisdiction, a new governance model for our elementary parish school, St. Therese. A Board of Specified Jurisdiction recognizes the expertise and dedication present in the laity; at the same time it recognizes that the school's viability and vitality for the longterm rest on broadening the school's base of support in the community. A Board of Specified Jurisdiction (or BSJ) has authority for decision-making for the school in specified areas; this authority is delegated by the Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the areas of vision and mission; institutional development; finance and facilities; and marketing and recruitment. The BSJ is empowered to cooperate and collaborate with the principal and the Superintendent in the work of administering and leading the school. Do yoiiknow sorrieone else who might be so s The Board is empowered in these specified areas: *Ministry Effectiveness (Mission/Vision/Faith based Core Values) *Member Development *Planning *Fiseal Management (Finances and Facilities) ^Institutional Advancement (Communication, Development, Marketing, Enrollment/Recruitment and Retention It is recommended that a BSJ is composed of 11 to 21 members.
