A Message from our Pastor: Aaron and Nicole Shipe have literally grown up in Calvary Baptist Church. They have served the Lord here for the last five years. Aaron has served as assistant pastor working effectively with our youth and in virtually every other area of ministry. Nicole has taken a leadership role in our Ladies visitation and children’s ministries. I strongly recommend that you prayerfully consider supporting them. I know that the Shipe family will be a tremendous blessing to your church In Christ, Pastor Tim Leaman

Who we are . . .
A
aron was raised in a wonderful Christian home where he was regularly exposed to the Gospel. At the age of four he placed his trust in Jesus Christ as his Savior. Just a few years later he moved to Maryland and began to attend Calvary Baptist Church. It was there that he surrendered to preach the Gospel, there where he preached his first message, and there where he met and married his wife Nicole. Aaron earned his B.A. in Missions and M.A. in Bible Exposition from Pensacola Christian College. While in Seminary he began to work as a youth pastor at Pensacola Baptist Temple where he was ordained. In 2003, he returned to Calvary Baptist Church as Assistant Pastor. Since that time he has led the youth ministry, taught adult Sunday School, preached on a bi-weekly basis, led congregational singing, and organized several foreign missions trips.
N
icole was also raised in a godly Christian home and was led to the Lord by her mother as a young child. While in high school, she surrendered her life to be used of God in whatever way He would choose. She graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 1999 with a B.A. in English. After graduation she married Aaron and began serving alongside him in ministry. She has served in a variety of ministries including Children’s Church, Bible Clubs, Sunday School, Ladies Visitation, and Vacation Bible School. Along the way, God has richly blessed Aaron and Nicole with six children.
Where we are going . . .
T
anzania, on the east coast of Africa is surrounded by the Indian Ocean on its east and by eight other countries to it’s north, south, and west. It was here that perhaps the most famous words in the modern history of missions were uttered, “Dr. Livingstone, I presume” when Henry Morton Stanley finally found the world famous missionary/explorer David Livingstone. It is a beautiful country with a rich variety of natural wonders: from its world famous national parks like the Serengeti and Ngorogoro Crater to the world’s tallest free standing mountain— Mount Kilimanjaro. t is to this land of great natural beauty that God has called our family. For this land of great beauty is also home to some 41 million people consisting of over 150 different people groups. And although officially Tanzania is 30% Christian, there still remains several sizeable tribal groups that remain virtually cut off from the knowledge of the Gospel. One such group is the pastoral Datooga tribe with a population around 200,000.

Why the Datooga . . .
A
lthough the Datooga (pronounced duhtoe-ga) live in a country that has a relatively large Christian population, their primitive lifestyle and separate language has kept them almost completely separate from the population at large and therefore from the message of the Gospel. It is our desire to magnify the name of Christ and proclaim His “saving health” among the Datooga.
Fast Facts About the Datooga Population: 150-200,000 Occupation: Herders (cattle, goats, sheep and, donkeys) and small plot farmers (maize, beans, and millet)
Language: Datooga– Only 5% know the national language Swahili
Evangelism: 99% have not heard who Jesus is.
Religion: Animists with beliefs in witchcraft and sorcery. They believe the spirits of their ancestors are alive and interact with living society. To ward off evil spirits they wear protective charms.
“That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.” —Psalm 67:2-3
