The problem with letting people in the day of the Breakfast is that some people came late and they had run out of some foods, such as sausage—so the people who signed-up and paid early may not get fed.
The Knights cut off serving at 10:50. At about 10:51, a gentleman showed up and wanted breakfast = he had paid for three. I apologized to him and I returned his money ($15.00 Mtungwa). The Knights were preparing to start serving lunch, so I suggested he might want to take advantage of that. I have noted who it was on the list. Another woman came late, also, so I returned her money $5.00—just felt bad because her little daughter missed her picture with Santa. Bernie DeSavage took a picture of her in the chair and I put the picture in a cover for her. The picture sessions went very well. People were patient, the kids were well behaved (even the grown-up kids). Santa was extremely good with the children. Our Photographer (Bernie DeSavage) did an exemplary job, patiently and expertly taking each picture, then when all the pics were taken, he proceeded to print them out, and people were surprised and extremely pleased with the quality of the pictures. We were done by 1:15 P.M. I bought 100 photo covers at Ritz Camera. They were $.89 a piece, but they gave me a 30% discount for $64.00. I printed out labels to indicate “Church of the Resurrection, December 6, 2008” n.b: Next year, possibly put names on the labels from the list. There were 17 photo covers from last year in the BWS box, but they were for the smaller Polaroid photos. The Photo Covers do look nice, however, after BWS I found some photo holders at Michaels (a pkg. of 8 for $1.00). I have attached a sample. Final thoughts— Next year maybe stress that Breakfast will not be served after 10:30?? Example:
Breakfast served 9:00- 10:30 Pictures taken w/Santa 10:30—----
I tried to make the announcement that we would call the tables to come up one by one, however, everyone lined up immediately & lined up as I made the announcement. P.S. Santa did a great job. (There were a few rather large “children” who wanted their picture taken). Santa was ok with it. There were some siblings who wanted to be in the pic at the same time (some looked like middle school kids) —Santa was ok with that also. **NOTE: I noticed in the K of C Newsletter (#2809 College Park) that they have BWS also. They say, Santa will be available for pictures WITH YOUR OWN CAMERA. At our BWS, I did notice many people took pictures with their own camera as well. **NOTE: Maybe next year, offer the non-preregistered a free pic w/Santa.
