Parent Leaders in Our Public Schools Support One Candidate
BRAD LANDER fo r C it y Co u n c i l
Dozens of parent leaders— including more than a dozen current and former PTA presidents/CEC members— are supporting Brad Lander for City Council.
Some endorsements are just political. But when a parent at your neighborhood school says one candidate is the right choice for public education, that means something.
Brad’s Plan to
Strengthen Our Schools • Protect Schools from Budget Cuts
We can prevent cuts to classrooms by eliminating expenses such as the Department of Education’s $80 million no-bid contract for practice tests.
• Plan Schools for a Growing Community
Brad is fighting for pre-K classrooms in the Park Slope Armory, and will make sure that we find new space so we can keep class sizes small.
• Listen to Parents, Not Just Tests
We should use a broader range of proven accountability measures— not just high-stakes tests— that respect the full spectrum of learning needs.
• Create Green and Healthy Schools
The City should help public schools teach responsible citizenship by eliminating junk food and styrofoam trays, and expanding recycling and innovative environmental programs.

A Message from
Carmen Farina, Retired Superintendent of District 15
“ Right now, our schools need real champions in public office— people who have their own kids in public school,
and have shown that they’ll fight for what our kids need:
More teaching and less testing. Genuine parent involvement. Real support for teachers. Greener, healthier schools. A high-quality neighborhood elementary school where they know they’ll have a seat.
That’s why I’m supporting Brad Lander for City Council in our neighborhood. Brad is the only public school parent in the Democratic primary. He and his wife Meg have been active at their own school,
”
and in fighting for better public education for all kids.
“ As a public school parent, I see every day what makes a great school: small classes, an excellent principal, dedicated teachers and active parents. Every child deserves no less.” Brad Lander
