Question (BAF): When do water heaters require shut-down along with the boilers? Answer (MK): The determination on whether or not the water heaters are required to be shutdown along with the boilers has to do ASME Section 4 and the equipment "stamp". If the water heaters have "H" stamp they are required to be shut down and if they have a "HLW" stamp they are not required to be shut-down but they do recommend it
