Thanks For The Past…Praise For The Present…Faith For The Future Vol. 12. No. 3 JULY, 2009 From the Editor… Maya Angelou once said “you should not go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands. You should be able to throw something back”. In other words don’t always want to be on the receiving end of things!! Well, Henderson and Gwen Bodiford sure threw a whole lot of love, hospitality and good cheer our way during our recent Bodiford reunion in Lansing, MI. Their home was the ‘go to’ place for family and friends during the entire weekend. From all who came…A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Henderson, Gwen and all the committee members. Y’All did it up!!! There were Bodiford family members representing seven of Ransom and Kate’s twelve children. Three of Ransom and Kate’s children were there…R. B., Ora Lee and Lowery. Four generations were present!! We are indeed a blessed family! The 2011 Bodiford Reunion and 100th birthday celebration for R. B. (Ken) Bodiford will be held in Atlanta, Ga. Jerome Bodiford and Mabel Williams will be hosting. See you there! As always …this issue is dedicated to the memory of my mama…Mayomer Bodiford. Yours in the family, Zellie Cornelia Bodiford Dupree FAMILY NEWS… • Brent and Deanne Williams are the proud parents of a baby girl…Trinity Kendra Leigh, born June 12th, 2009. Brent is the son of Mabel Bodiford Williams. Brent and Deanna also moved into their first home recently in Montgomery, Al. God’s blessings to them and their three girls. • Marguerite Bodiford will be a co-host for BET television when they visit Detroit, MI on August 14 and 15. They will be there for a health event and a VIP reception to be held in the beautiful Marriott hotel in downtown Detroit. • Our Bodiford Family web site was set up by David Harris, son of Jacqueline Harris and grandson of Jacob and Zellie Dupree. As we take a deep breath in, we can feel the love of God indwelling in us. As we breathe out , we experience the feeling of peace, which relaxes us. And we know: God is always with us and with those we hold dear. We can rest for a moment in the awareness of God’s presence. Deep in our hearts, we can feel assured that those dear to us are enfolded in God’s love now and forever. Neither distance , nor death, nor circumstances can separate us from the presence of God. We lift our thoughts to the truth of God’s ever-present love and we are comforted. For I am convinced that neither death nor life… will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our lord.-Romans 8:38, 39 WORDS OF WIT AND WISDOM….Some lessons life have taught us… • Life isn’t always fair, but it is still good to be alive. • Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. • Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick, family and friends will. Stay in touch. 3

You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up your present. It’s ok to let your children see you cry. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it. Everything can change in the blink of an eye! But remember God never blinks! Take a deep breath, it calms the mind. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger. The most important sex organ is the brain!!! No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
