ANNEXURE A July 2009 Dear Respondent Re:
SURVEY ON EFFECTIVE OPERATIONAL RISK MANAGEMENT IN SOUTHERN AFRICAN BANKS
I would like to appreciate you for taking your time in completing this questionnaire, which is part of a research to find out how Southern African banks, mainly in Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa can best manage operational risk. This research is carried out by the department of banking at the National University of Science and Technology, Bulawayo. The survey aims to: •
Assess the level of importance bank employees officials place on operational risk
•
Determine the roles of the Basel II accord, Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 on the vastly structural and traditional “structured approach”, to operational risk
•
Find out whether operational risk can be mitigated and controlled effectively
Completing the questionnaire will take between 10 and 15 minutes. Also the results of the study will not be fragmented by bank but taken, as is, to reflect the whole region’s banking sector. A high level of anonymity will be maintained. Please kindly send your completed questionnaire to the e-mail below. You may also send the responses via the self addressed, prepaid envelopes attached within. Those who might need a copy of the results should also state at the end of the questionnaire, these will be sent by 25 September 2009.
[email protected] I would appreciate receiving your responses by 27 July 2009. Kind Regards, Mr. Blessing Mandizha National University of Science & Technology
