3/25/19 Blog 8 The author means that you need to be considerate for the receiver and they are going to have to change in their plans to concat you. It can come off as unprofessional and annoying. I did have prepared questions for the interview. Examples included, what was your educational path and how do balance your work and home life between jobs? The professionals were helpful because they gave me new ideas and aspects to consider when choosing a career. I did research the people I was going to interview so I had background information on them. 3/11/19 Blog 7 You need to figure out what your strengths and weakness are so you can identify if a job is right for you. I agree with the author that you should know your work style and what environment you would want to work in. Self-discovery will help you narrow down options and help you fill the requirements that hiring managers are looking for. I find it interesting that the author includes communication skills into the list of why knowing your personality can help you find a job. I think that communication skills is often not in the top of people's mind when they think of job criteria. Communication skills is important when finding a job, not just when you go for the interview, but when you continue to work in a job. 3/1/19 Blog 6 The friends I have definitely inspire me and are passionate about what they are going to pursue in life. One of friends, Alyssa, wants to major in music in college, so she has been practicing non stop to achieve her goals. Alyssa has been accepted into the colleges that she has auditioned for. Grace is becoming a registered nurse and has a plan already thought out for a job and where she wants to go. Jenny is always having a good time and she knows when to work and when to just let go and have fun. I consider myself a happy medium of all these people. I look to them for advice and I offer them advice and encouragement too. 2/27/19 Blog 5 My SMART goals that I wrote in 9th grade was to get a 93% or higher in my classes and to be section leader in band. I reached one of my 2 goals. I was the field major, which is higher than a section leader, in the 2018 marching band season. I think I presented myself as a responsible person and my dedication to helping others was one of the reasons I wanted to be field major. I did not get a 93% or higher in 2 of my classes in all my three years. I got a 91% in Algebra 2 and English 10. I think that I had trouble with the curriculum and possibly the teaching style of the teachers. I think that revising my grades goal is a worth it. Since the grading scale is being changed, a 90% would be considered an A. So I would need 90% or higher in my classes to maintain straight As. I am going to try out for section leader and drum major for the 2019 marching band season. I think I have a good chance to obtain one of the positions because I have been creating relations with my peers and have been reliable. I learned that I need to apply

myself to these goals. If I want to get As in mt classes, I can not be scared to get help from my teachers. I need to continue to do my best in my academic and extra circulars. 2/8/19 Blog 4 I think that the authors claim is plausible because we do live in a world that everyone has a digital footprint and that anyone could look into one another. One thing that the author did not consider that employers still conduct interviews of the possible candidates, weather that be on the phone or face-to-face. I think my digital profile is okay and positive; I am pleased with it. I think that the idea of making a website to feature myself is a good step to make my online presence positive for future careers. I heard that making a linkedin account is beneficial also. I think that I am almost ready for the scrutiny from colleges in other year. Big events that still need to be completed are: taking the SATS, deciding on what I want to major in, and passing my senior year classes. I believe that my online status is clear of any misbehavior and conduct. 2/6/19 Blog 3 A job doesn't require a degree or high level of education or a temporary position. A career is when you need specific degrees and certifications in the field of study. I have a job at Sweet Frog as a store staff. I learned that you need to accommodate to people's’ needs and wants when dealing with food allergies or diets. You need to be able to count coins (something that is not emphasized) because some people pay with actual money and not just with credit cards. You need to be able to follow instructions and procedures on how to do things. I think that accommodating to people is a skill that is needed in career because people aren't always going to accommodate to you. Another skill is following instructions. You need to be able to follow what the material is in classes. What I learned from the classroom can be transferred to a job or career through being organized and punctual in work. 1/29/19 Blog 1 The author argues that students should know themselves first before starting the college search because they need to find the college that fits themselves and their needs to learn. Students need to figure out their personal limits and preferences and find a school that would work with it.I agree that a student should know themselves and what their expectations and preferences are before starting the college search. If you know that you want to stay in state and want to study a certain program, you can find schools that fit the description. You need to know what circumstances you work best in and what your personal limits are. I think it is a worthwhile use of my time to figure out what I want to pursue in another year and a half. I need to figure out a loose outline of what I would like to study and become. It will be interesting figuring out what my preferences are and what can be available to me. Thinking about who I am today and who I want to be makes me feel nervous because I don’t know where to start and what career I want to pursue.
