‫و‬ ْ َ ‫ست‬ ِ ‫غ‬ ِ َ ‫ست‬ ِ ‫مدُ اِلل‬ ْ َ‫ه ن‬ َ ْ ‫ا َل‬ ْ َ‫و ن‬ ْ َ‫و ن‬ ُ ُ ‫عي ْن‬ َ ‫ح‬ ْ ‫ح‬ َ ُ‫فُر ه‬ َ ‫ه‬ َ ُ ‫مد ُ ه‬ ُ ّ‫و ك‬ ‫ه‬ َ ‫ل‬ ِ ْ ‫عل َي‬ ِ ِ‫ن ب‬ ِ ‫ُنؤ‬. ُ ‫م‬ َ َ ‫و ن َت‬ َ ‫ه‬ ُ ْ ‫رأ َن‬ ُ ‫ن‬ ‫ت‬ ِ ّ ‫سي ِا‬ ِ ‫و‬ ِ ‫ف‬ ِ ‫ه‬ ِ ‫وذُ ِبالل‬ ُ َ ‫ون‬ َ ‫ن‬ ْ ‫م‬ ْ ‫م‬ َ ‫سَنا‬ ْ ‫شُر‬ ْ ‫ع‬ َ ِ ‫و‬ ‫مال َِنا‬ ْ َ ‫ا‬. َ ‫ع‬ َ ‫فل‬ َ ‫ه‬ َ ‫ه‬ ّ ‫ض‬ ْ ّ‫ن ي‬ ِ ‫م‬ ِ ‫د‬ ِ ‫ه‬ ْ ّ‫ن ي‬ ْ ‫م‬ ْ ‫م‬ ُ ‫ضِلل‬ َ ‫و‬ ُ َ‫ل ل‬ ُ َ ‫فل‬ ُ ‫ه الل‬ َ َ ‫ه‬ ‫ه‬ َ ُ َ ‫هاِدئ ل‬ ّ ِ‫ه ا‬ ْ َ‫و ن‬ ْ َ ‫ون‬ ‫د‬ ّ َ ‫هد ُ ا‬ ْ َ ‫هد ُ ا‬ ً ‫م‬ َ ‫م‬ َ ‫ش‬ َ ‫ش‬ ّ ‫ح‬ ُ ‫ن‬ ُ ‫لالل‬ َ ‫ن ل ِّال‬ َ .‫ه ِال‬ َ ‫ه‬ َ ‫ا‬ ُ ‫وَر‬ ُ ُ‫و ل‬ ْ ‫س‬ َ ُ‫عب ْدُه‬ All Praise is due to Allah: We Praise Him: We beg assistance of Him: We ask Him for forgiveness. We have faith in Him: We have reliance on Him. We fly for refuge unto Him (to deliver us) from the mischief of our minds and from the evil consequences of our actions. Whomever Allah directs shall not go astray: and whomever He allows to go astray, no one can guide. We profess that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah, and we further profess that Muhammad is His Servant and His Messenger.

Blessing of Islam (O you who believe! Fear Allâh as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam (as Muslims) with complete submission to Allâh.)’ [Aal ‘Imraan 3:102],

(O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person, and from him He created his wife, and from them both He created many men and women, and fear Allâh through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship) Surely, Allâh is Ever an All-Watcher over you).’ [al-Nisaa’ 4:1],

(O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allâh and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth 70 ‫ز‬. He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger (SAW) he has indeed achieved a great achievement (i.e. he will be saved from the Hell-fire and made to enter Paradise). [al-Ahzaab 33:70].” (Sunan al-Nisaa’i: Kitaab al-Jumu’ah, Baab kayfiyyah alkhutbah). Brothers and sisters in Islam, we are blessed. Every time you pickup the Book of Allah and read one ayah, no one word, no one letter for Allah’s pleasure you are reward for that from Allah Tala. Just to 2 of 13

Blessing of Islam perform the Sunnah salah in the Fajr according to our Beloved Rasool is more worth in sight of Allah than the whole earth and everything it. Imagine how much the 5 daily fard salah is worth in the sight of Allah. My brothers and sisters in Islam my point is that we are so blessed as Muslim with even the least time consuming rites. We cannot thank, praise and glorify Allah Tala enough for guiding us to the way of life called Al-Islam. I want to talk to you today about how blessed we are to be Muslims here on this 1st of Shawwal 1427 or October 23, 2006. In a world where people are lost thinking that only materialistic possessions will bring happiness, we are guided to a religion where we are taught to keep the material of this world in the hand and not in the heart. Brothers and sisters we are blessed In a world where peoples value is judge by their beauty which runs only skin deep, or where peoples value is the shade of color or lack of melon in their skin, or where their value is judged by what side of the political border they are born Islam teaches us that white person is not better than a black person, nor a black better than a white, and that an arab is not better than a non-Arab nor a non Arab better than an Arab, all are equal in the site of Allah as the teeth of comb, and it is only through righteousness that one person exceed another, and only Allah can judge that for piety, and righteousness is in embedded in the heart. Blessing of Islam In a world where some people practice homosexuality, fornication, and adultery and accept it to be normal, Islam teaches us that intimacy come only after the structure, bond, and responsibility of marriage has been establish. Islam teaches us that Allah created us in the harmony of pairs, so there is no such thing as Jack and John, but only Jack and Jill. Brothers and sisters we are blessed In world where many people live by the jungle rule of might is right, Islam teaches us that we must take care for the orphan the weak the poor, the destitute, and the downtrodden, as Allah informs us in Surat al Balad:

90:11 But he (humans) have made no haste on the path that is steep. 90:12 And what will explain to you the path that is steep?90:13 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 90:14 Or the giving of food in a time of hardship 90:15 To the orphan who are related, 90:16 Or to the indigent (down) cleaving to dust (out of misery). 90:17 Then will they be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion.

Brothers and sister we are bless, Allah Tala again has guided you and I to the common sensical beliefs of Islams, the practical rites and rituals of Islam, the code of ethics of Islam, the morals of Islam, the jurisprudence of Islam. In short the complete way of Life Called Al Islam. 4 of 13

Blessing of Islam Sure we have problems as believers. I do not to list them for you. All you have to do is turn to the news on TV, radio, newspaper or internet and you can see, hear and read about it. But I will ask a question tell me which nation of believers did not have problems. Look at the people of the ditch in the Qurran Allah tala informs us:

[85:5] They ignited a blazing pit of fire. [85:6] Then sat around it. [85:7] To watch the burning of the believers. [85:8] They hated them for no other reason than believing in Allah, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy. [85:9] To Him belongs the kingship of the heavens and the earth. And Allah witnesses all things.

Blessing of Islam So these believers were dropped in burning pit of fire only because they believed in Allah Tala. Look at Noah, Ibraheem, Mosa, Esa, and Muhammad SAW, look at their stories and hardship and suffering they went through as believers. So as I sit down I ask Allah Tala to make of those who grateful for the blessing of being as Muslim, I ask Allah Tala to make us of those who are proud to be amongst the Muslim. I ask Allah Tala to forgive us of short comings, and to give us success in this world and success in the hereafter.

َ ‫عا‬ َ ‫َباَر‬ َ َ‫و ن‬ ُ ْ ‫فىل‬ ِ ‫م‬ ِ ‫ع‬ َ ‫ف‬ َ ْ ‫ن ال‬ ْ ُ ‫و ل َك‬ ُ ‫ك الل‬ َ ِ ‫ضي ْم‬ ِ ‫قْر‬ َ ‫ه ل ََنا‬ ‫م‬ ْ ُ ‫وإ ِّياك‬ َ

ٌ ‫مل‬ َ ‫عا‬ ‫ك‬ ِ ‫بالَيا‬ َ ‫ل‬ َ َ‫ه ت‬ َ ْ ‫رل‬ َ ‫م‬ ٌ ْ ‫ري‬ ُ ّ ‫حك ِي ْم ِ أ ِن‬ ّ ‫ج‬ َ ‫ت‬ ِ َ ‫وادٌك‬ ِ ْ ‫والذّك‬ ٌْ ‫و‬ ‫م‬ ٌ ْ ‫ف ّرحي‬ ُ ُ‫ب َّرّرء‬ May Allah grace you and us with the blessings of the grand Qurr’an, and may it benefit us and you with the proofs and with wise commemoration, for He the Almighty is Generous, Noble, Sovereign, Benign, Compassionate, and Merciful.

PART II Brothers and sisters in Islam I mentioned in the first part of the khutbah that we cannot thank, enough for giving us the blessing of being a Muslim. Allah Tala informs of this in Qurran:

Blessing of Islam [16:18] If you count Allah’s blessings, you cannot possibly number them. And Allah is The Forgiver, Most Merciful. So how can we show our gratefulness to Allah Tala for the uncountable blessing He has bestowed upon us?

The best way Inshallah is to give the only thing that we can give to Allah Tala, and that is obedience, or submission. We need to strive to have firm complete belief, in Allah, His angles, books, Prophets, the day of judgment, and the divine decree the good the bad thereof. We need to prove these beliefs by firmly establishing the pillers of practice or Arkan Al Islam. To openly and sincerely declare “There is nothing worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His Messenger”, to establish the 5 daily prayers, to give the zaka, to complete seaaum, and to perform the Hajj. We need to strive to use the owners manual of life, the Quran, and to strive to imitate the walking Quran, Muhammad ibn Abdullah (SAW). The great thing is that to be amongst those whose are grateful this is actually a means for the increase of blessing, as Allah Tala informs us that:

[14:7] Your Lord has decreed: "The more you thank Me, the more I give you." But if you turn unappreciative, then My retribution is severe.

In conclusion brothers and sisters in Islam, one the main problems nowadays is that many people have reduced religion to being rituals, 7 of 13

Blessing of Islam and rites, that one does for an hour on Sunday, or Saturday, or Monday. For many religion is something personal between them and God, and they abhor, and are fearful of organized religion, and revelation. And so many people have come up with their own personal believes about God and religion based on whims and conjure. I was even told by a local journalist who interviewed Salman Rusdie, author of a book called “Satanic Verses” which insults our Quran and our Prophet, I was told that Salman Rusdie says he believes in God but hates all organized religions. Of course as Muslims we believe that the only way to salvation is obeying the Revelation of Allah, as shown to us by the sunnah of Rasullah, and thus striving for the mercy of Allah to be saved from the hell-fire. My point is so many people think that to live in this modern age we have to put religion in the back-burn or to shun religion altogether. That religion restricts our freedom and happiness. But the fact of the matter is that these people are not being honest to themselves. Think about it if we naoubillah reject our Creator under the thinking that we will then have freedom, do we not become a slave then to each other, or to money, or to drugs, or lust or desires. Let me ask the question: Who knows how best we should live our lives but the one who created us Allah Tala, therefore the only true freedom is to be submit to our Creator Allah Tala. This is the conclusion of the wise wife of Imran the mother of Mary when she said in the Qurran:

[3:35] The wife of Amram said, "My Lord, I have dedicated (the baby) in my belly to You, totally, so accept from me. You are Hearer, you are the All Wise." So here the wife Imran is dedicating her child to the servitude of Allah, because she knows only when we are slaves to Allah do we become truly free, and we attain peace and satisfaction in this life, and peace and satisfaction in the hereafter. Thus again my brothers and sisters Islam is the greatest blessing, and we should happy, and proud and honored to be Muslims, And Allah Tells us. Therefore let us make a commitment right now that we be of those who show their pride and honor of being a Muslim. Let us endure, let us strive, let us struggle to be complete Muslims. Let be of those who rise up to the challenges present to us. This community has a great challenge and that is to collect the remaining balance to pay off this Masjid, your Masjid, my Masjid. Our Imam Abdul Basir is right now in San Diego on this 9 of 13

Blessing of Islam path to collect towards completing the balancing to pay this Masjid off. That is the short term goal with regards to keeping the Masjid. But in the long-term we need to be of those who’s hearts are Inshallah attached to the Masjid, who are pigeons of the Masjid. I close with statement of sincerity that everything we do, doing or will do is for Allah:

6:162] Say, "My Prayers, my sacrifices, my living and my dying, are for Allah Lord of the universe. [6:163] "No partner has He. This is what I have been commanded to do, and I am the first of the Muslims."

Qurr’anic Dua’as

‫ة‬ ً َ ‫سن‬ ً َ ‫سن‬ ِ ‫في ال‬ ِ ‫و‬ ِ ‫َرب َّنا آت َِنا‬ ِ ‫خَر‬ َ ‫ة‬ َ ‫في الدّن َْيا‬ َ ‫ح‬ َ ‫ح‬ َ ‫ة‬ َ ‫ع‬ ‫ر‬ َ ‫قَنا‬ ِ ‫و‬ َ ‫ذا‬ َ ِ ‫ب الّنا‬ 1. Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the life to come and keep us safe from the torment of the Fire (2:201)

2. Our Lord! Take us not to task if we forget or fall into error. (2:286)

4. Our Lord! Lay not upon us such a burden as You did lay upon those before us. (2:286)

3. Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear, grant us forgiveness and have mercy on us. You are our Protector. Help us against those who deny the truth. (2:286)

Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him!

‫عاَلي‬ ُ ‫ع‬ ِ َ‫ي‬ ِ ‫ذك ُْرالل‬ ِ َ‫و ل‬ َ ‫و‬ َ َ‫ه ت‬ َ َ‫م ل‬ ْ ُ ‫عل ّك‬ ْ ُ ‫خك‬ َ .‫ن‬ ْ ‫م ت َذَ ك ُّر‬ ّ ‫ج‬ ‫وا َك ْب َُر‬ ‫ى‬ َ َ ‫وا‬ ْ َ‫ا‬ َ َ ‫وا‬ َ َ‫و ا‬ ّ ‫ه‬ ّ َ ‫وا َت‬ َ ‫م‬ َ ‫م‬ َ ‫ل‬ َ ‫عّز‬ َ ْ َ‫و ا‬ َ ‫ى‬ َ ‫ول‬ َ ‫عل‬ He admonishes you that you may remember (Him). And indeed the commemoration of Allah the Almighty is the loftiest of Actions, preferable, powerful, majestic, perfect, and most important and the grandest of all things.
