DOCUMENTATION HIGHLIGHTS Managerial Audience Researched and prepared security policies for White & Case to show external auditors. Auditors praised the completeness and clarity of the policy documentation. Edited and revised a document created by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York defining the need for vulnerabilities tracking. Contract was extended so that I could develop a PowerPoint presentation concerning the project. User Audience Have written at least a dozen complete user guides. For New York Federal Reserve Bank’s policy department, researched and wrote a handbook explaining IT security policy to non-IT managers. Work was so well received that the department requested me for many other engagements. Came to Bankers Trust to write a user guide for managing account deposits. Supervisor went on vacation immediately. Developed table of contents and look for the book on my own. Congratulated on successful progress when supervisor returned. Technical Audience Designed a wall-sized Visio chart for Deutsche Bank enabling engineers to track a worldwide currency trading network and identify solutions to breakdowns, substantially speeding recovery time. Organized technical procedures for disaster recovery of UBS Global General Ledger. Congratulated by project manager for translating a complicated plan into an easy-to-understand document. In preparation for a Federal banking audit at CIBC Oppenheimer, used interview skills and technical knowledge to specify procedures for managing data center. Invited to create a second such book for a second data center.

White & Case (2005—2008) Full-time, senior technical writer: for a global law firm with over 40 data centers worldwide. Received top performance evaluation for consistently adding value beyond expectations. Wrote documents for all types of audiences; e.g., Managers: Researched and wrote policies in preparation for audit. Provided a bi-weekly status report for the IT department (using Adobe Framemaker). Wrote booklet explaining IT department’s uses for attorneys. Created PowerPoint presentations for managers to use. Users: Wrote user guide for dictation system. Created web sites and reference cards for training department. Technicians: Created Visio chart showing the wiring and switching system of the collocation center. Financial Clients UBS: Wrote plan and organized technical procedures for disaster recovery of Global General Ledger. (2005)

Federal Reserve Bank of New York: Worked with CIO to create a document developing the business case for purchase of a vulnerability- assessment product, and designed a PowerPoint presentation supporting the case. Success of design led to repeated requests for additional writing engagements. (2005) Wrote a 70 page Information Security Handbook to provide all managers with a clear understanding of their responsibilities protecting information’s confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Deutsche Bank: Designed a wall-sized Visio chart for enabling engineers to track a worldwide currency trading network and identify solutions to breakdowns, substantially speeding recovery time. (2004) Worked in the Data Center Operations’ infrastructure department, providing a series of technical documents supporting its North American network. Documents based on interviews and notes taken at business meetings. The most important deliverable documented the operating standards for UNIX servers in the North American network. (2000)

JPMorgan Chase: Created documents (user guide, reference manual, and installation wizard) for the ETech (infrastructure) department’s new application enabling users to access corporate network from anywhere in the world. (2001) Providing documentation for Chase’s migration to Windows NT-based network. Wrote operations procedures for the servers supporting Lotus Notes (NOMAD). (1999; as Chase Manhattan)

Enterprise Technology Corporation: Wrote operations and user manuals for custom software to financial clients. Also produced help files (using Robohelp). (1999-2000)

CIBC Oppenheimer: Wrote documents for the Operations and Technology office while it prepared for a federal audit of its procedures. (1998)

Pharmaceutical Clients Pfizer: Revised documentation of the architecture for Pfizer’s IT infrastructure. Interviewed various systems architects and, based on these interviews, revised the Pfizer technology standards. Sample document title: Network Architecture Standards. (2004) Wrote procedures for the Brooklyn plant’s Safety and Health department, including complete fire emergency plan. (2003) Wrote about 150 operating procedures for the Brooklyn plant. Bristol-Myers Squibb: Wrote user guide and on-line help files for lab technicians and chemists for an in-house, on-line application tracking the targeting of complex molecules. Work required familiarity with pharmaceutical testing processes.
