Two useful tricks are used in this BIRT exercise Use of the event handler for the data set to manipulate the query WHERE clause
Use of a ‘dummy’ required variable so that BIRT will pause and present the user with the parameter selection dialog.
Otherwise it continues into the retrieval of the data set
