ABOUT MODI  Born 17 September 1950.  Small district of Gujarat,Vadnagar.  15th and current Prime Minister of India.  Leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).  Served as Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014.

CHALLENGES AS CM : GUJARAT ROITS • On 27 feb. 2002 muslim arsonists set fire to a train near Godhra which killeds 60 Hindu • As a result anti mushlim violence spread through out Gujrat riot death estimate 900 to over 2000 by several thousand more peoples were injured

• Gujrat government imposed curfews issued shoot at sight order called the army • In march 2008 Supream court constituted a special investigation team to prove the Godhra reorts but found no avidence against Modi

Belong to the OBC community. During childhood used to sell tea with his father Damodardas at the Vadnagar railway station.

Joined RSS at eight and because a full-time campaigner of RSS in 1971. Earned an extramural degree in political science through a distance education course at Delhi University.

Got master of arts degree in political science from Gujrat university , in 1983.

FROM A TEA SELLER TO 4- TIME CM 1- Assigned to the BJP in 1985 and became organizing secretary of BJP’s Gujarat unit in 1988.

2- in 1995, due to internal politics in BJP, was Delhi, was responsible for the Party’s activities in Haryana and Himachal pradesh.

4- In 2001 , he became the CM of Gujarat. Keshubhai Patel was being critised for corruption , and very poor dealing of the Bhuj Earthquake of 2001

3- In may 1998, promoted to the post of general secretary of BJP, after his strategies contributed to the 1998 general elections.

ACHIVEMENT AS GUJARAT CM Four continuous term as CM 2001-02,2002-07,2007-12,2012-14 Corruption went down , financial and technological parks were set up. Branded the state as “Vibrant Gujrat” because of its economic development . Succeeded in bringing electricity to every village in Gujarat. From 2001-2010, Gujarat recorded an agriculture growth rate of 10.97%,the highest among all Indian states. Schools drop-out rates declined from 20%in 2001 to 2%in 2011, maternal mortality declined by 32% from 2001to 2011.

FROM CM TO PM CANDIDATE  On the 31st March 2013 was appointed to BJP;s Parliamentry Board, the highest decision- making body of the party  Appointed Chairman of BJP;s Centeral Election Campaign Committee for the 2014 general elections

on the 9th June 2013  BJP announced Modi as its PM candidate in September 2013 for the 2014 Lok Sabha election in the party from the senior leaders loke L.K. advani  Contested the 2014 general election from two constituencies, Varanasi and Vadodara and won from both  During the Campaigning for the Prime- minstership, from 15th September 2013 till 10th may 2014, he addressed 5827 rallies/events, visting 25 states
