About NIT Durgapur The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (formerly Regional Engineering College, Durgapur), was established by an Act of Parliament in 1960 as one of the eight such colleges aimed to function as a pace setter for engineering education in the country and to foster national integration. It is a fully funded premier Technological Institution of the Government of India and is administered by an autonomous Board of Governors. About the summer school The summer school is designed for faculty members of Engineering/Management Institutes who are actively engaged in research in bioinformatics or are interested in learning the subject for academic or research interest. The course will cover fundamentals of the subject for the participants having little knowledge of both biology and programming and will then go for in-depth discussion on the present research scenario with a futuristic vision. Course contents

Fundamentals of bioinformatics, sequence analysis, dynamic programming, protein secondary and tertiary structure prediction, homology modeling, genome analysis, computer aided rational drug design, molecular modeling, molecular dynamics, molecular simulation techniques, molecular mechanics, basics of chemiinformatics, immunoinformatics and agriinformatics, system biology.

General information Deadline for submission of registration form - 20th June 2008 There is no course fee for attending the summer school. Boarding and lodging will be provided.
