Cheng Zhu Civil Engineering Cheng Zhu earned his Bechelor of Engineering degree in civil engineering from Yangtze University in 2010 in China. In 2015, he received his Master of Science in pavement engineering from University of Nevada, Reno. He joined UTEP’s doctoral program in civil engineering in the spring semester of 2016. His research interests mainly focus on the rheological performance and aging mechanism of asphalt binder, including neat binder and several types of modified asphalt binder. At UNR, he finished all the related pavement courses under the pavement engineering program. After graduation, he decided to continue his study in Ph.D. program in The University of Texas at El Paso. The main projects he has been involved included the Texas DOT project of evaluation of tack coat material by using laboratory testing, and a project of performance evaluation of the geocell in reinforcing subgrade. His desire career is to be an engineer in geotechnical and pavement engineering. Cheng Zhu’s dissertation, “Study of the mechanism of asphalt thin overlay pavement interface: tack coat, ABAQUS modeling, and LTPP case study.”
