From romance to a prison cell... all because she LIED EXCLUSIVE BY TOM MCDERMOTT AN INNOCENT York student who was falsley accused of rape has spoken out for the first time, in an exclusive interview with Vision. He has revealed he had no idea that a girl he met in Gallery would turn a romantic night into a living nightmare. Suffering arrest and confiscation of his belongings, the first-year feared he would be tarred with the label ‘rap-

ist’ for the rest of his life. Bail conditions trapped him in York over Easter and he underwent the humiliation of having his friends interviewed about the allegations. The student was only saved from a lengthy prison sentence after an extensive police enquiry proved his innocence in the final hour. “I’ve no idea why she did what she did,” he said.
