Optional day-trips that can be arranged for a nominal fee include: the Maya Ruin sites of Nim Li Punit, discovered in 1976, or Lubaantun, discovered about 1903; Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, home of the world's first Jaguar Reserve; and a float up Monkey River---perhaps spotting manatees along the way---with a Jungle Trail Walk.
