Ensure insulin dose accuracy • Make sure you never recap your insulin pen with the needle still on, as this leaves an open passageway into the medication cartridge • Attach a new needle before each injection and immediately remove after the injection • Check the flow of medication through the needle before every injection • If medication continues to drip from the needle after injections, hold the needle in the skin longer when injecting, to ensure delivery of the complete dose • Refer to the instructions of the pen manufacturer for proper injection technique with their device

Advanced technology — a difference you can feel BD engineers every BD Ultra-Fine™ Pen Needle and Insulin Syringe to be so thin and so smooth that we can guarantee a more comfortable injection. Thanks to technology, like:

Fine point technology: A three-step process that shapes the tip of every BD needle as finely as possible for easier penetration.

Electro-polishing: A process that polishes away microscopic burrs giving every needle a smooth finish.

Micro-bonded lubrication: A special double-lubrication process that creates more glide and less friction.

be more comfortable and easier to use. In addition to offering leading injection technology products, BD provides awardwinning educational materials, start-up training and ongoing customer care support. * Co-pays and preferred status vary by plan. Check with your plan for the savings associated with a preferred brand.

Never handle someone else’s syringes unless a healthcare professional trains you in proper injection technique and disposal. If you inject someone else or dispose of their syringe, use caution to avoid needlesticks which can transmit serious infections. Never recap or destroy a needle that has been used by someone else. Immediately after injection, place the used syringe, still intact, in the proper container as described in 2.

- Never mail a syringe or pen needle unless it’s in an approved sharps mailer.

Proper needle care To ensure you always receive a safe, comfortable injection, use a needle only once.

Needle reuse can: • Dull or bend the tip, causing bleeding, bruising, or scarring • Increase the risk of the needle breaking off in the skin

BD insulin syringes are most widely used among people with diabetes When selecting BD insulin syringes, first choose the syringe barrel based on your dose. Be sure to choose the smallest syringe that will hold your dose because the scale on the syringe will be easier to read.

Use this barrel size...

1/2 mL (cc)

31 to 50 units

1 mL (cc)
