Bat~ Mammalia
Viviparous ( 胎生的 ) feed on mothers' milk usually have only one offspring per year population growth is limited by the slow birth rate • microbats become independent at the age of 6 to 8 weeks • live over 20 years
Bat’s Reproductio • Mother bats usually have only one offspring per year. • A baby bat is usually left in the roost, a newborn bat can soon grow too large for this. • Bats form with many females giving birth in the same area : cave, a tree hole, or a cavity in a building.
Bat’s Reproduction II seen to feed on • Pups have even been other mothers' milk if their mother is dry. • Only the mother cares for the young, and there is no continuous partnership with male bats. • A single bat can live over 20 years, but the bat population growth is limited by the slow birth rate.
Vampire bats are the most famous type of bats. Vampire bats are kind and giving creatures. The females often share other animals' blood with each other they help feed mothers when they have just given birth They come out at night and drink blood. They drink other animals' blood, using two sharp teeth. They bite the animal then lick the blood. The animals are often sleeping when this happens. You can find out more (and see picture of their teeth!) CLICK here.
