Barbarians was the term to referred to the Vikings and Goths, an East Germanic tribe. It was also a terms the Greeks used to refer to different foreign cultures, like the Egyptians, Persians, Celts, Germans, Phoenicians, Etruscans, and Carthaginians. In fact it was a term to used to describe people who were foreigners. However, I'll focus on the origins in order to answer the questions for this task. So, I'll focus on the concept the Greeks had. Basically, the Greeks made fun of the Persian because of their language and lack of culture (that's why the word 'Barbarian' has such a negative connotation)The Barbarians could be found all around Europe and part of Asia. Their territories spread from Sweden in the north, North Africa in the south, Britain in the west and Russia in the east. The Barbarians' civilization flourished between 100 A.D to 1000 A.D. The most famous Barbarians name people nowadays are Attilla the Hun, King Ru, his uncle, and the great conquer, Genghis Khan. In modern culture, Barbarians are represented as lonely warriors, who had an insatiable appetite, they were portrait as brutes. However, it seems that was just an exaggeration. Herodotus describe them as a civilization who could produce wonderful and marvelous things.
