Baghdad VI The photograph Baghdad VI was taken by the photographer Luc ‘Dalahaye’. The photograph is landscape and a c-type photo, it also quiet modern and detailed. It is a coloured photograph but is mainly using quiet dark colours. The colours it uses are dark blue, black, grey, smoky grey, black and white. I think the photographer chose to use dark colours as the image is quite a negative one and is trying to portray a grim image. There is only a small section of the photograph that shows the sky possibly about 25% and has not been cropped. The photograph seems to be in mid day however the place seems to be polluted and I think the photographer chose to take the photo at this time of day as if it were sunny it would not have the same effect. I can tell it is mid day as the sun is up but it cannot be seen as it is cloudy and rather smoky. I also feel the shadows are quite necessary as if there were none the effect would not be the same and the area would not seem as dull or grim. This image was displayed in the ‘Deutsche Borse exhibition’ in London at ‘The Photographers Gallery and it won photography prize 2005. This image may influence my own choice of photographic subject and composition as it almost tells/ sums up a story and gives you the current state of affairs in Baghdad.
