American Badger • Badgers are found in the Great Plains of North America, so they would definitely feel at home in White Bear Lake. • Living in the Media Center, a badger could live up to 26 years.

• Badgers have good eyesight, hearing and sense of smell. These qualities would help it spy good books, hear interesting books on tape, and sniff out old smelly books to remove from the library.

Badgers are night creatures, so they could guard the Media Center. • Badgers weigh from 9-26 pounds, so it would not take up too much space in the library. • They like to be alone, so only one badger would be needed. • Badgers usually sleep in tunnels, but a cozy nest could be made under Mrs. Linn’s desk.

• Badgers are carnivores so they would take care of any mice, snakes or insects that came into the library. • They have very attractive fur which would be nice to touch as long as the badger did not bite.
