A-III/1.F3.C1. KUP4 : Methods for carrying out safe emergency and temporary repair. The graduate of the BSMARE program shall have acquired the knowledge and competence necessary to perform the following: a) Demonstrate the ability to undertake at the operational level , the tasks , duties and responsibility listed in the column of table A-III/1 Section A-II/1 of the STCW Codes. I. Objectives: 1. Demonstrate the use of maintenance system , like PC – based data. 2. Participate in a survey of running machinery. 3. Describe how items of spare gear are maintain in good condition II. III. Procedures: 1. Provide all materials, tools ,equipment and protective clothing to be needed while performing such activities. 2. Demonstrate the proper use of protective clothing and dangerous tools. 3. Apply the safety measures while doing such activities in the area. 4. Identify the Personal protective Equipment and Clothing. 5. Demonstrate the proper usage of first – aid box and each content of medicine. NOTE: Appropriate knowledge of safety measure to be carried out while doing such activities to avoid any injuries. IV. Assessment: PERFORMANCES 1. Correct usage of personal protective clothing and equipment. 2. Demonstrate the proper usage of the first-aid box, and each content. 3. Apply careful attitude while working on any task. 4. Explain the appropriate lighting, ventilation and exhaust fan. V. Rubrics Equivalent Grade 4 – Able to demonstrate correctly without supervision 3 – Can demonstrate with minimal supervision 2 – Can demonstrate with supervision 1 – Cannot demonstrate VI. Table A-III/1 , Maintenance and repair at the operational level A-III/1.F3.C2 – Maintenance and repair of shipboard machinery and equipment. A-III/1.F3.C2 KUP 1 – Safety measures to be taken for repair and maintenance including the safe isolation of shipboard machinery and equipment required before personnel are permitted to work on such machinery equipment. Upon completion of the course the student shall be able to deal with maintenance and repair at operational level particularly the use of relevant data sources , manual , and drawings , undertake maintenance to the main engine , auxiliary engine , boiler and repair to plant electrical and emergency equipment. Determine the safety precaution in maintaining the electrical equipment.
