Harrow West Watch Newsletter for Aug/Sept 2009 SPEEDING IN WHITTINGTON WAY
OPERATION ZUGZWANG
Complaints were reported to police regarding speeding motorists using Mobile phones whilst driving in Whittington Way Pinner.
The West Cluster is holding Operation Zugzwang on Thursday 20th August 2009 between 1100 hours to 1700 hours.
Pinner South Safer Neighbourhood Team arranged an operation at the beginning of this month to combat this problem. With the assistance of Special Constables three tickets were issued and advice was given to numerous motorists about their conduct whilst on the road. OPERATION RECLAIM Sergeant Doyle led this operation with her team at Pinner working with Traffic Police and various agencies. The Op was conducted on the Rickmansworth Road, Pinner in June. Hailed as a success by local residents - it has helped to reduce burglaries and vehicle crime in the area. Five vehicles were seized for various offences. This operation will be conducted on a regular basis. Graffiti Rayners Lane and Pinner South SNT worked in partnership with British Transport Police as part of an ongoing problem with Graffiti. Arrests have been made and intelligence gathered with a view to arresting further offenders.

What is Operation Zugzwang? It is your opportunity to take part in helping to reduce crime in your area. On 20th August 2009 we need you to report suspicious activity direct to your dedicated ward officers via their mobile phones. Pinner Police will be monitoring all of the calls and will deploy officers. We appreciate this is a working day and some of you will be unable to remain at home. Help us to help you by looking out of the window and reporting any suspicious activity. REMEMBER IF YOU THINK ITS SUSPICIOUS THEN IT PROBABLY IS!
