the hope of glory. in you,

1 Peter 2:9-12 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

1 Peter 2:9-12 (cont.) 11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, Glorify God in the day of visitation.

A “People” of Glory “That ye may show forth - By your whole behavior, to all mankind. The excellent glory - the virtues, wisdom, and power of Him, Christ, who hath called you out of the darkness of ignorance, error, sin, and misery.” - John Wesley

Living For His Glory 1. As a LOVING People 2. As a UNITED People 3. As a PROPHETIC People 4. As a PRAYING People 5. As a PRAISING People

Living For His Glory

As a People of BLESSING

We Are Blessed • Deuteronomy 28 • 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 • Psalm 84 • Ephesians 1:3

We Are Blessed 3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

John 13:17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

Blessed are you … To be blessed by God is to reach the most desired position on earth. It means to be supernaturally happy, satisfied, fulfilled, and contented.

If you do them! Blessing doesn’t come from just knowing what God wants us to do. Blessing comes when we ARE DOING what God wants us to do.

How to Bless Eugeleo (To Eulogize) 2. To praise others – to speak about others in a positive way. 3. To sacrificially serve others – with humility and great generosity. 4. To speak blessing to others – asking God to poor His blessings upon them.

How to Bless Blessing others begins in our hearts.

When We Place The Same VALUE and HONOR On a Person That God Has Placed On Them!

The Rule of Benedict th 6 Century Visitors should always find the porter at the door to greet them, no matter what time of day or night. When a visitor arrives, whether a nobleman or not, it is the Porter’s job to warmly greet the visitor saying, “Your

blessing, please.”

Count That Day Lost by George Eliot

If you sit down at set of sun And count the acts that you have done, And, counting, find One self-denying deed,

one word That eased the heart of him who heard, One glance most kind That fell like sunshine where it went -Then you may count that day well spent.

But if, through all the livelong day, You've cheered no heart, by yea or nay -If, through it all You've nothing done that you can trace That brought the sunshine to one face --

No act most small That helped some soul and nothing cost -Then count that day as worse than lost.

Why Don’t We? 1. SELFISHNESS (Haggai 1) • We are more focused on getting our needs met than on blessing others. • We are waiting until we have an abundance. • We have become Consumers rather than Givers.

Why Don’t We? • PRIDE • Doing life out of our own strength – not depending on God. • We’ve become self-sufficient. • We expect others to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” and to fix their own problems.

Why Don’t We? 3. JUDGEMENTAL • We don’t believe God will bless a “damaged person.” • We believe God is offended by sin and can’t wait to punish sinners. • We don’t believe it is fair for a nonChristian to be blessed.

Why Don’t We? 4. FEAR & UNBELIEF • We are afraid that we will not have enough if we give it away. • We don’t believe God will really take care of us. • We aren’t sure that God wants to bless us.

What if, every morning, we got out of bed and said to the Lord …

“Help me be Your blessing today to every person I encounter?”
