HOW THE AUCTION WORKS Each item or package will go to one winning bid. For group packages such as dinners and trips, the winning bid can come from a group or an individual. The Silent Auction will be closed in 3 rounds: at 9:30pm, 10:30pm, and 11:30pm. If you don't win what you want the first time, you can try to get something similar in the next round! Silent Auction items can be bid upon in increments of $5. Just remember, it all goes to charity!

Summer Search Foundation (www.summersearch.org) is a nonprofit organization that builds character and leadership in lowincome high school students through a combination of scholarships for summer programs and ongoing mentoring. Summer Search offers kids the unique chance to step out of their environments, expand their horizons, and change their futures. Summer Search began in 1990 with 15 participants and has since impacted the lives of over 2,000 students in the San Francisco, Napa/Sonoma and Boston areas. Harvard Business School has had a long history with Summer Search, providing critical funding through the annual section auctions, and with alumni and faculty involvement on the board.

For over 25 years, CIS has championed the connection of needed community resources with schools. By bringing caring adults into the schools to address children's unmet needs, CIS provides the link between educators and the community. The result: Teachers are free to teach, and students - many in jeopardy of dropping out - finally have the opportunity to focus on learning. Children's Right Foundation is a charity in Northern Thailand that aims to restore happiness to some of the 47,000 children in Thailand that - without any wrongdoing - have been infected by HIV/AIDS. These children are outcast by their rural communities and left to die next to their parents who are typically in the final phase of the disease. The Children's Right Foundation builds communities near Chiang Mai in which children live and receive medication through Buddhist monks. For most children this is the first and only chance to live a normal life, play with peers and - perhaps - even survive. Nominated by Philip Muelder.
