How would you attack
The team we are playing this week runs a 6-2 gap D that looks something like this
--------------------FS-----------------C--------------LB-------LB-------------C ---DE-----DT---DG----DG---DT----DE ----------------------C-------------------LB's and DE are their studs for the most part. DE's have contain....LB's usually have B or C gap, blitzing the A a good deal. Any thoughts on some plays you might attack this with?
It's a "6 man box". As you noted, they will want to blitz. Counter with a "mini" call. Now run anything you want to the 5, 6, 7 and 8 holes. Have the center pick off the backside LBer. Have guards cut a blitzing "A" gap LBer. Obvious plays are: FB On, 47 Speed WB Over, 57 Power Screen 47 Buck Reverse FB On, Super 36 Toss (Have QB take C and TE the LBer. WB doubles DT. You must pull LG and LT) WB Over, Maxi, 33 Quick trap Slot, Pass left (#1 or #2 - probably #1) Slot, Pass Left, Zero Open Freeze, 38 Rocket Power Fake Rocket, 23 Cross SE Hitch and Lateral 24 Cross Lead 24 Cross Counter Against Pass Right, the corner has two receivers to cover.
