My experience in VISE 1, was the first time I felt like i was really going to be a teacher someday, and i started seeing things from the other side of the clasroom, not as a student anymore. It was a difficult start, because from the very beggining i had problems in the school. This stablishment was located in “villa dulce”, far away from the place i live, so i had to commute long distances to get there. It was a good school, in terms of structure, of working material, students and teachers. There were lots of clasrooms, and there wasn’t problems with lack of teachers, and there weren’t also problems with the number of students. My vise 1 took place with a 4 ½ grade. One of the thing that was most important in my observation, i guess was when i arrived to my first day of class. The entered into the classroom, and all the stundents showed themselves very polite and respectful to me. I aproached to the teacher and i told her my situation as a pedagogy student. She didn’t showed any interest in my learning, and she started the class without even let me introduce myself to the class. Whenever i tried to speak her or ask her questions about the group, she only answered with short questions without telling me anything important. She was an strict teacher, and i could notice it in the students, because in some kind of way they were afraid of the teacher. Anyway their behaviour wasn’t the best, and she spent most of the time of the class making them to be quiet, and trying to teach them as much as posible. Another important fact i could notice in those moments, was that most of the class didn’t know a lot of english, not even the basics, their level was really low for they age. There was only one, or maybe two stundents that understood most of the things that the teacher spoke in english. After this class, i went to the teacher room to talk a little in the break about what i observed in my first class. I could notice that she was really upset because she couln’t teach as she wanted. She started telling me about how annoying are some kids, and the real difficulties of being a teacher. It’s not only about knowledge, or social abilities. It’s also about patience. This experience, was in someway very scary for me, because i couldn’t do or ask the things i ‘d like to know, because the teacher wasn’t opened to let me into the class. Of course the first question i did to myself was have i what it really takes to be a teacher?. To be honest, i didn’t find that main answer, but i hope to find it in the experience of VISE ii, or at least having a better aproach to the educational sistem. Another thing i asked to myself, is why the teacher had that attitud, not only to me, but also to the students. I think the most important thing to be a teacher, is the will to teach, and the vocation for the education. If you don’t have it, it’s better don’t even trying. Finally one of the things i’m more afraid of. I thought, why are these students so hard to control, or to keep them quiet paying attention to the class? . My conclusion was that, from the start we as teachers must stablish a good conection and show respect to the others, to make a fine enviroment, so everybody feels comfortable in the clasroom.
