Final Exam-Case Study 6 months Assessment
If I were to perform this assessment in six months on Sequoia she will be starting her first year in public school. She will be four months into school. In doing this assessment I would use a whole different kind of assessment than the one I used the first time. Sequoia would be more advanced in six months; she would have had time to learn she would have had time to learn more when I get ready to do this assessment. If I should do this assessment in six months the things that Sequoia scored low on the first time I should see some significant improvement in those areas. Some of the changes I think I would find she would be able to use complete sentences by being in a blended literacy instructional program. High-quality literacy programs require a literacy-rich environment with many materials to support children’s learning. As Susan Newman and Kathy Roskos (1993; pp.20-21) explain, a print rich classroom can help children to learn about language and literacy. I feel Sequoia will be able to print to specific wards. Children select books to “read” because their peers have selected the book. Children talk to each other for information and help in decoding or spell words. “How do you spell morning?” “What’s this word say? Several researchers have documented what happens when teachers create an environment where children can demonstrate, for, or coach each other. For example, Carl Vukelich (1993, p.390) studied how children teach each other about the functions, features, and meaning of print in play. Effective Early Childhood Teachers help provide opportunities for children to work and play together promotes Literacy-enriched Environment. I feel teachers would be encouraging children to experiment with emergent forms of reading and writing. In the 1970’s, Marie Clay (1975) and Charles Read (1971) help us understand emergent forms of writing and reading. In conclusion I feel by doing an assessment on Sequoia in six months I would observed a substantial amount of changes. Sequoia older and as I started earlier by that time she would have been in school for at ;east a few months in my opinion she should have picked up on a lot of things especially the writing of letters. The assessment I would do on Sequoia this time would be more of a writing sentences skills have developed. References:
