11. Read the following paragraph and answer the question stated below. You have a model airplane that you don’t want anymore. Your best friend has a baseball mitt that he doesn’t want anymore. Suppose you really want a baseball mitt, so you tell your best friend that you’ll give him your model airplane in exchange for his baseball mitt. He agrees and you make the exchange. Now you want a baseball to go with your new baseball mitt so you open your closet door to start looking for something you’re willing to give away in exchange for receiving a baseball. Consider the paragraph on the bartering system above. Based on our discussion on a monetary system in class, do you think bartering (swapping goods) is more or less efficient than swapping money? Give two reasons why. Limit your answer to one paragraph

12. Read the following paragraph and answer the question stated below. Suppose you had a lot of corn, but no meat, and the farmer down the road had a lot of meat but no corn. If that was the case then you could agree on a fair swap, and swap corn for meat. This is known as bartering- you don’t need money to “buy” an item, rather you traded an item you didn’t need for a different item you did need. Now, continuing with the scenario, suppose you needed meat, but the farmer already had corn. He might not want any more corn, he may want something else, perhaps some eggs. If you still wanted the meat, you would have to find someone who had too many eggs, and wanted some corn. Consider the paragraph on the bartering system above. Based on our discussion on a monetary system in class, do you think bartering (swapping goods) is more or less efficient than swapping money? Give two reasons why. Limit your answer to one paragraph
