A difficult time finding a TOPIC!! I took me two weeks to prepare for this lesson plan. I was really unsure of how to do it, until we have a class discussion on the topics of each student. I had a good idea on how the lesson should be done. I was hesitant on the topic that I wanted to do. For my rough draft the topic I chose was “Culture”. After the class discussion on the topics, I changed my topic to differences/similarities in value meals, “Fast Foods: What healthy, and what’s not!” I chose this topic because I could relate to it. I hardly ever have time to eat a home cooked meal. I always eat fast food meals because I’ve been busy with school. Many middle and high school students tend to eat at fast food restaurants because it is affordable. There are many ways to integrate computer into a lesson. In the standards teachers should “design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity”(NETS*S). This will be an excellent way to teach students and digital tools. My lesson plan is counting calories on value meals from six different restaurants. Students will learn how much calories are in each value meals. Students could compare the differences and similarities on value meals from the different restaurants. For the outcome on this project, students will be careful on what they eat at the restaurants. They will learn what is healthy and what is unhealthy. I found a site that could really help with my lesson plan. In the article research stated “A study conducted by Cornell University found students gain a half pound a week during their freshman year due to regular consumption of fast food” (Lauren Cervantes, pg.1). This article will have many students think about fast foods. Cited Sources International Society for Technology in Education. (2008). NETS for Teacher 2008. Standard .
