*Happy Friday, Families! It has been a busy week here in second grade! We wrapped up a successful NWEA testing session, worked on opinion writing pieces, and began our new thematic unit on ecosystems. We are continuing to explore measurement, including the measurement of time. *Tomorrow is our International Festival! From 3-7 PM (rain or shine) come on by to enjoy some delicious food and celebrate the many cultures that make up our Westlake community. This is a great event- not to be missed! *Westlake Charter High School Town Hall: Join us on Wednesday, April 24th at 6:00 PM for a Town Hall meeting about the future Westlake Charter High School. Mr. Eick will share the vision and timeline for the high school, then families will have the opportunity to dream about what is possible for Westlake Charter High School. *Spring Picture Day: Spring picture day will be Friday, April 26th. All students will have free dress on Friday, April 26th. Only students who have prepaid AND filled out this form will be sent to the photographer to have their picture taken. Picture packets will go home before Spring Break. If you would like to have your student’s spring picture taken by Excel, please fill out this form AND prepay online or send payment in the packet. All 8th grade students should dress to impress - pictures for promotion certificates will be taken that day. Form links available in this week’s email. *Book Fair: Scholastic Book Fair opens Thursday, April 4th and will end Thursday, April 11th. To check out the schedule, click the link in our weekly email. *Friday, April 5th is Culture Day! Students can dress in cultural clothing for our Spirit Day! *With one more week until Spring Break, we will be focused on our new thematic unit, solidifying new math concepts, and building our opinion writing pieces with detailed, substantial reasons to support our opinions.
