It’s not double jeopardy but Nick Fawcett offers us the following: Quiz: Who is? 1. He earned the title “Defender of the Faith” yet led the English Catholic Church away from Rome. 2. Some say he never actually lived. He had a sword called Excalibur and is associated with a Round Table. 3. He was originally from Holland, married Mary and sounds like he ruled over fruit. 4. He was King of Denmark and Norway. He went on a pilgrimage to Rome in 1027 and he tried to turn back the sea. 5. He went away on several crusades. He left his brother in charge of the country. He was known as the ”Lionhearted”. 6. He was King of England and was known for his personal piety and love of justice. A Shakespearean play is named after him. 7. He was the second Stuart king of England and Scotland. During his reign a civil war started. He was eventually beheaded. 8. He ruled an ancient civilization and was known as “the Great”. His father who was ruler before him had the same name. 9. Blamed for the “Great Fire of Rome”, he was eventually forced to commit suicide. 10. He suffered from various disabilities but as emperor of Rome he annexed Britain to the Roman Empire. He was eventually poisoned. 11. He was the first King of Israel. 12. He was famed for his wisdom and oversaw the building of the temple in Jerusalem. 13. He was appointed King by the Romans His father of the same name is known for the slaughter of children. 14. He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and was crucified as “King of the Jews”. All of these rulers have one thing in common with the exception of Jesus. They all ruled over earthly kingdoms and enjoyed the various trappings of government. Yet Jesus was born as King yet His kingdom was not of this world. As King in his own words and actions He told us He came to serve and to give His life for others. Today and everyday He offers us the invitation to truly become His disciples and let His light shine through our lives. HIDE NOT YOUR LIGHT Hide not your light, but hold it high That others who are passing by May see your light, and thus may know You walk with Jesus as you go. Hide not your light because it’s small; ‘Tis better than no light at all. Hold it on high! Its little glow May help more than you’ll ever know. Hide not your light! The world has need Of Christian love and kindly deed. Hide it on high that others, too, May see your faith and walk with you. Author: Clara M. Bode

Good Friday, April 10 and ends on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 19th. Full novena schedules are located on the tables of the Church. th,

On April 19 the Sisters of Reparation to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus will present the message of the Divine Mercy as given by our Lord to St. Faustina here at St. Andrew’s. All are invited to meet the Sisters and hear the special one hour talk followed by veneration of a First Class Relic of St. Faustina on Divine Mercy Sunday. Please bring your family and friends and learn more about this beautiful devotion to the Mercy of God.

WELCOME VISITORS AND NEWCOMERS! We invite you to register and become a part of our St. Andrew parish family! Please fill out a registration form, located on the information wall in the narthex (main church entrance) or stop by the parish office during the week. Welcome!

IS THE SEASON OF LENT CALLING YOU TO A DEEPER FAITH? Are you short on time for bible studies and lengthy reading? If so, you’ll be excited to learn about a wonderful resource available to St. Andrew parishioners this season, as part of our Journeys in Faith Formation Program (JIFF). We will be offering inspiring and educational Catholic CDs and brochures on a kiosk in the Narthex. The CDs are audio recordings of talks given by some of our favorite Catholic speakers such as Matthew Kelly and Scott Hahn, and many more. With topics ranging from “How to Live Life with Passion and Purpose,” to “The Healing Power of Confession,” these CDs are sure to stretch your faith, inspire your spirit, and shore up your resolve to learn more. Look for the kiosk and JIFF media resource book in the Narthex! Volunteers are needed to help with this important ministry! It requires just a small investment of your time to assist with the kiosk before or after mass, and guarantees to be rewarding!

(Dates Changed, April 15, 22, 19) f) St. Catherine’s Church in Bethlehem forwarded thanks for the generous St. Andrew donation. Copies of the letter will be made available to the parish members. Old Business: a) We need to fill the open seat on the council. John Miles will review next-in-line and appoint another parishioner if possible. b) Winter-Fest was a great success. Everyone worked very hard. It was well attended. c) Yard Sale went very well. Many thanks for the donations and the effort (Eileen Nelson and Sandy Lashley). d) Station benches have been placed near the river. There are still approximately four (4) un-sold benches and stations. Danny Piper will continue to coordinate this. e) The Fish Dinners are going well; they are well attended and usually sold-out by 7PM. f) The new Discipleship Program was discussed, and Monsignor Marren asked for a committee meeting March 26th at 6:30 (first meeting). g) Church premises signs: (1) Monsignor will discuss a signage solution (for pets) with Mike Lerch. People need to understand that the grounds are private property. (2) We discussed the need to have “Quiet signs” in the Church (in particular, the Narthex does get loud at times); a couple of carpets can be placed and they will likely cut down the noise levels. There will be no signs displayed. We also need to have John Miles review the procedures for Church door opening/closing at the end of Masses with the St. Andrew team of ushers. h) St. Patrick’s Day Party has reached the attendance limit and is now sold out. An e-mail was sent today to advertise for assistance for the party. New Business: a) Parish Ministry Services: Susan Demaso suggested that it would make sense to formally survey each ministry. Monsignor: our job is to see that the ministries are working. We could bring the heads of the ministries together to look at how each one can help the other. Rick Medina: These ministry heads should be allowed to champion specific causes. Margaret Ward: we need to think about opening-up involvement at the planning stage for any event, and this should cross multiple ministries. Dave Capano: Notices from Monsignor will offer more weight to get multiple ministries and the parish at-large involved when it is needed. b) Margaret Ward: should we have Participation Sunday this year? This will be discussed at the next meeting. c) “Build a Spirit Project:” If Renay Miller is available, we will review this next month. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 PM. Margaret Ward closed the meeting portion, and Monsignor offered a closing prayer.
