Hand Embroidery and Machine Embroidery 

Hand embroidery is a beautiful art that almost anyone can learn. It is an art that should be preserved and well worth learning.

Machine Embroider 

Machine embroidery is an embroidery process whereby a sewing machine or embroidery machine is used to create patterns on textiles. It is used commercially in product branding, corporate advertising, and uniform adornment. It is also used in the fashion industry to decorate garments and apparel. Machine embroidery is used by hobbyists and crafters to decorate gifts, clothing, and home decor. Examples include designs on quilts, pillows, and wall hangings.

Tool we use for embroidery 

Cloth - Embroidery fabric can be almost any type of fabric! However - linen,

quilting cotton and muslin are all great beginner embroidery fabrics because they're easy to work . 

Scissors - Embroidery scissors are small and sharp, perfect for trimming floss

cleanly and closely. They're essential. I like to make "necklaces" out of mine so I don't misplace them. 

Embroidery needles - Embroidery needles vary wildly in size - I recommend buying a variety pack to find the size you like the most for each project.





Embroidery hoop (ring) - Embroidery hoops are used to hold fabric taut while stitching. We use plastic ones for stitching and wooden ones for framing embroideries. Pinking shear - Pinking shears cut fabric so that it has a jagged edge. This keeps the edges of your fabric from unraveling as you work with it.



Hand Embroidery stitches 

Running stitch - The running stitch or straight stitch is the basic stitch in hand-sewing and embroidery, on which all other forms of sewing are based.



Back stitch -The back stitch belongs to a class of individual stitches that are made backwards to the general direction of sewing.



Stem stitch - Stem stitch is one of the most common and basic embroidery stitches. This stitch creates a thin line and can be used to outline embroidered shapes.



Chain stitch -Chain stitch is a sewing and embroidery technique in which a series of looped stitches form a chain-like pattern.



Feather stitch -Featherstitch or feather stitch and Cretan stitch or faggoting stitch are embroidery techniques made of open, looped stitches worked alternately to the right and left of a central rib. Fly stitch is categorized with the featherstitches.



Satain stitch - In sewing and embroidery, a satin stitch or damask stitch is a series of flat stitches that are used to completely cover a section of the background fabric.



French knot - A knotted stitch is any embroidery technique in which the yarn or thread is knotted around itself. Common knotted stitches include French knots and coral stitch. Knotted stitches can be subdivided into individual or detached knots, continuous knotted stitches, and knotted edgings.



Lazy daizy - Lazy Daisy Stitch. Begin the lazy daisy stitch by bringing the needle up from the back, through your fabric.
