Pope Leo X, 1516 Romanism brings all anti-Christian religions together under the Antichrist. In the picture on the left, the pope receives a mark from a pagan Shiva priestess. The following reported by Biblical Discernment Ministries -Pope John Paul II on his 10th African tour in 2/93, told about 75 "colorfully garbed voodoo worshippers [in Benin] that they would NOT have to forsake all of their culture [nor their voodoo faith] in order to convert" to Catholicism (2/13/93, World). The conciliatory pope noted that even as Africans look to their ancestors as objects of worship, Catholics also revere "ancestors in the faith, from the Apostles to the missionaries." "I have never seen God, but today when I have seen the pope, I recognize that I have seen the good God, who prays for all the voduns," said Sossa Guedehoungue, head of Benin's vodun community. Voodoo leader Senou Zannou gave a formal speech in which he announced his son was becoming a Roman Catholic priest. But he also offered a defense of his faith: "God knows that the vodun has nothing to do with the devil or Satan." (Africans passing from Benin into slavery brought vodun worship to Haiti and Brazil, where it mixed with Catholicism and came to be called voodoo.) Other instances of Catholicism's cooperation with the occult and false religions: In 1986 in Assisi, Italy, John Paul II joined in a circle to pray and meditate with snake handlers from Togo, shamans and tribal witchdoctors from West Africa, Hindu gurus from India, Buddhist monks from Thailand, and liberal protestant clergymen from Great Britain, as all joined hands in "pray[ing] to their gods for 'peace'." The Pope also announced in Assisi that there are "many paths to God." (Sources: Christian News in a reprint of a 1993 article by Michael A. Again in 1986, in Fiji, "the Pope quaffed a potent island liquor, accepted three whale's teeth and watched a spear dance during an ancient welcoming ceremony dating back to when the Fijians practiced cannibalism. ... [Fijian tribal] chiefs handed the Pope a mud-colored, alcoholic drink called kava [a drink condemned by early missionaries to Fiji as devil worship] ... [which] he downed in a single gulp." At the Pope's next stop in Auckland, New Zealand, 15 elders of the Maoris tribe pressed noses with the Pope, "to exchange each other's breath, which is the life force." (Source: 11/22/86, Chicago Tribune.) Throughout Central and South America, Catholicism is in the most blatant partnership with spiritism and paganism. In Brazil, Aparecida is the largest cathedral in the world next to St. Peters in Rome. It is dedicated to a small idol of a "Black Virgin" -- pulled from a nearby lake in a fishing net -- that now performs "miracles." The Pope came to honor this idol in 1991. At the mass, the priest led the people in prayers and songs to the idol, asking it for salvation and dedicating their lives to it. Aparecida's large bookstore also carries many of the same "positive" books that delude Protestants -- books in Portuguese by American authors, from Norman Vincent Peale to "Christian psychologists." In his visit to Senegal in 1992 where, instead of calling the heathen African religions by their proper and accurate name, Pope John Paul II referred to "African customs" and urged Senegal's Roman Catholics to "strike the right balance between African customs and church requirements." But there is no "right balance" between truth and error -- they are mutually exclusive. Yet the Pope said that the "blending of authentically African fruits in union with the universal church was essential to the spread of Catholicism on the continent." (Source: 4/93, Flashpoint.) [Contrast such statements with the Word of God: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them" (Isa. 8:20). God says: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil..." (Isa. 5:20). All idolatry is an abomination to God and needs to be recognized as such. Of course, since the Roman Catholic Church actually worships idols while claiming to be "Christian," it is understandable that they will not rebuke heathen idolaters who make no profession of faith in Christ.] On January 9-10, 1993, the Pope again hosted the Dalai Lama of Tibetan Buddhism and representatives of many other false and ungodly religions. It was an incredible sight to see these weird persons, "holy books" in hand, all standing serenely, side-by-side with the Pope. In the 2/10/93 issue of the official Vatican newspaper, L 'Osservatore Romano, the Pope said he recognizes within the devil worship sect of Voodoo, "God's riches ... the seed of the Word ... solidarity among believers ... for ... human liberation." Those interested in a history of Voodoo and its curse upon the black people of Africa for a thousand years, should read the 1989 book by former high priest of African Voodoo Isaiah Oke, Blood Secrets: The True Story of Demon Worship and Ceremonial Murder.] The Philippine Star of 8/25/94 reported that José Silva, founder of the world-famous Silva Method, received the Special Apostolic Blessing bestowed on him by Pope John Paul II on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Reports reaching Silva International say the Vatican has given its approval to the Silva training course. [See The Seduction of Christianity and the BDM report on the Silva Method for an explanation of this heavily demonic occult technique formerly known as Silva Mind Control.] In a 4/3/91 letter written by Pope John Paul II, addressed to "my beloved Muslim brothers and sisters," the Pope said, "I close my greeting to you with the words of one of my predecessors Pope Gregory VII, who in 1076 wrote to Al-Nasir, the Muslim ruler of Bijaya, present day Algeria: 'We believe in and confess one God, admittedly in a different way, and daily praise and venerate him, the creator of the world and the ruler of this world.'" The name Allah, was not invented by Muhammad, but was the name of a pagan god, long known and worshiped in the Middle East. In pre-Islamic days, Allah worship was on par with Baal worship, both originating in the Babylon region and both being Astral religions: the Sun, Moon, and Stars were the objects of worship. An Allah idol was one of some 360 idols in the Kabah, the sacred building at Mecca, now containing the famous black stone, a place of Islamic prayer and pilgrimages., the place to which the faithful turn to pray, again not new to Islam, but a practice of very ancient origins. The tribe into which Muhammad was born was devoted to the god Allah, Allah being the personal name of the Moon god. That the Pope worships a god other than the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ ought not surprise us when one considers that both Islam and Romanism come from the same Babylonian stock. Amos 5:21 Daniel received visions of the near future as pertained to present events of his day and also in the latter times, When the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance and understanding dark sentences shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully and shall prosper and practice and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand and he shall magnify himself in his heart and by peace shall destroy many. He shall also stand up against the Prince of princes but he shall be broken without hand. Daniel 8 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. Daniel 9:27 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Matthew 24:15.... For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Matthew 24:21 Any past fulfillments of the abomination of desolation mentioned by Daniel are considered types of what is to come. In that it could be Nebuchadnezar could mean that there are different fulfillments as being types of the desolation, so anything here is possible if it leads us to the truth of our time and the Anti-christ. For example, Antiochus Epiphanes is considered a fulfillment of this prophecy as a type and a forerunner example of the Anti-christ in that he sought to force Greek culture and manners on the Jews irrespective to their faith in God and tried to put an end to the Jewish religious community. Epiphanes' name means God made manifest, he occupied Jerusalem, entered the Holy of Holies and desecrated the sanctuary by offering unclean animals upon the altar of burnt-offerings. He then polluted the whole building by sprinkling it with water in which flesh had been boiled, dedicated the Temple itself to Jupiter Olympius and erected a statue to him and then plundered the temple treasures. This of course led to the Maccabean revolt and a real victory for Judah until Rome came; this is the celebration of Hannakah, types of restoration for sure. Titus would also be a type in that the legions invaded Jerusalem with the symbol of the eagle and destroyed the temple in 70 A.D. Again Epiphanes, Nebuchadnezar and Titus would only be types of what is still yet to come, the papacy is also a type but not the fulfillment. This sinister person sums up the mystery of iniquity and the full development of last-day miracle-working demonism and still, Christians will love him. He will be destroyed by Christ's advent in glory and satan will be bound in the abyss. John's vision included a "first beast" which spoke as a man with a mouth speaking great blasphemies against God, his power was to endure 3 1/2 years. This is the one that will make war with the saints and overcome them. The power of the world will be given him and all will worship him whose names are not written in the book of life. Then another beast comes forth and causes the earth to worship the first beast. And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire to come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And deceives them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast, saying to them that dwell on the earth that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is 666. The beast referred to here sounds like it is the second beast and the 666 seems to refer to the false prophet rather than the Anti-christ. We must realize that while the beast with four heads represent rulers or their nation or groups of nations, the beast can refer to any one of the heads or to the Anti-christ himself. This means that even Babylon could be the one that dies and is resurrected and there could be a lot of faulty interpretation being circulated as how to recognize him. Early Christians looked for the Anti-Christ as a person and not a polity or a system, a man in whom satan will dwell utterly and bodily and who would be armed with satanic and demonic powers. The Anti-christ was the name given to the "man of sin." When Saint John refers to the Anti-christ coming and also that many antichrists have come already, he is referring to that anti-christ spirit that has always been in the church but there is a man to come that 11/26/2009 Page 4

fulfills the end-time satanic king of Babylon. The scoffers arising in the last days deny the second-coming and also the man of sin referred to as the Anti-christ but it will be the future king of Babylon that will be overthrown. Isaiah: And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear, and from the hard bondage wherein you were made to serve. That you shall take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, how has the oppressor ceased! The golden city ceased. The seventy weeks prophecy of Daniel is weeks of years. In the midst of the last week (3 1/2 years), "he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." This is the abomination of desolation that Jesus warned us about and that we must flee. This could be construed to have happened in the destruction of the temple at Jerusalem in 70 AD, but Jesus goes on to tell us that afterward we would be seeing "the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory." For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only He who now letteth [literally, restrains] will let [literally, will restrain], until He [the Holy Spirit] be taken out of the way [at the Pre-Tribulational Rapture]" (2Thessalonians 2:7). [See our article, "Must There Be a Pre-Tribulational Rapture?" --, for an exposition of 2Thessalonians 2, "Taking Away the Restraining Influence" -.] Only the Restraining Influence of the Holy Spirit-- which indwells all True Believers, unless we extinguish His Influence and Presence through sin, i.e., "Quench [Greek, sbennumi, meaning to extinguish] not the Spirit" (1Thessalonians 5:19)-- keeps the Antichrist from prematurely revealing himself. Only when He "Who walketh upon the wings of the wind" (Psalm 104:3) sovereignly determines that it is the Appointed Time, will the Antichrist be allowed to reveal himself-- which could be any time now-- but, not before the LORD Jesus removes His Watching and Waiting Saints through a Pre-Tribulational Rapture. "Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of Man cometh at an hour when ye think not" (Luke 12:40). The lie that "ye shall be as gods" (3:5) or "like God", and thereby, to receive the worship that would be normally directed to the Almighty, has been the driving passion of Satan, and is the epitome of the ambition of the Antichrist. A Study of Israel's Feast Days in Relation to Prophecy Tribulation Date Setting - When will the End Times Begin? Our research suggests we will not know the identity of the antichrist until the covenant is "confirmed". This covenant or treaty "with the many", will deal with Israel and the Temple Mount sacrifice. Daniel 9:27It was not valid to expect the Tribulation to occur in the year 1000, or any year between 70AD to 1948. The State of Israel did not exist. The end time prophecy of Daniel concerning the reinstated Jewish sacrifice can not be fulfilled by events taking place anywhere else but the Jerusalem Temple Mount. Apocalyptic prophecy simply could not have been fulfilled prior to THIS GENERATION. In Israel, preparations have already been made for the prophetic rebuilding of a Jewish temple, which has not existed for 1,926 years. Such websites as templemount.org catalog the efforts of many towards this end. The most coveted and contested property in all Israel is the temple mount. In 1967 at the victorious culmination of the 6 day war, Israel captured the temple mount. For the first time in over 2,300 years, Israel again had control of the holiest site in Judaism. Despite Israel's incredible victory of the 6 day war and their miraculous recovery of the land where the first and second temple once stood, the Israeli government turned over authority of the temple mount to the Moslems. Will they always control it? The prophet Daniel 9:27 is specific about the future of the temple mount in Jerusalem. Our research suggests that Daniel's 70th Week starts on the eve of Passover. There are several clues: Elijah will come back on Passover in fulfillment of Jewish expectations & prophecy. Elijah will decry the antichrist for 1260 days - Revelation 11:3 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD -Malachi 4:1-5 As a result of the tradition that Elijah did not die but is with God, significant expectations of Elijah's future return developed within Judaism and Christianity. It was believed that Elijah would someday come back to earth, and his arrival would signal the dawn of the Messianic era. For texts that seem to connect Elijah with the future messiah, see Malachi 4:4-6, Sirach 48:9, and in the New Testament Mark 9:2-13. The cup of Elijah of the Jewish passover seder is another example of this expectation This period of 1260 days reappears throughout end time prophecy. Take note of these event-filled 3 1/2 Biblical years: Antichrist's psuedo-peace reigns over the world for 1260 days - Daniel 12:7 Antichrist kills and persecutes Christians freely for 1260 days - Revelation 13:5 Why is antichrist's power over Christians broken after 1260 days? Antichrist goes in to the temple and breaks the treaty of Daniel after 1260 days! And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week (7 years of 360 days each = 2520 days). And in the middle of the week (halfway through 2520 days = 1260 days) he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease; and on the corner of the altar, desolating abominations, even until the end. Why is antichrist's power over Christians broken after 1260 days? After 1260 days antichrist goes in to the temple and breaks the treaty of Daniel 9:27. When antichrist desecrates the temple, those in Israel who thought he was Messiah will realize that he is a False Messiah ... antichrist will no longer be able to rule from Jerusalem. The Abomination of Desolation - Another Timeline Clue The abomination of desolation takes place 1260 days AFTER the treaty of Daniel 9:27 is signed. 1260 days after Passover is Tabernacles, another typologically significant Feast of Israel. The Feast of Tabernacles alludes to another significant prophetic event, read our study here: http://www.mt.net/~watcher/taber.html Because the treaty of Daniel 9:27 occurs on the eve of Passover "of some year", our studies conclude that a "False Armageddon" scenario will occur JUST BEFORE this treaty, perhaps around Purim. Interestingly enough, this Feast of Israel does occur just before Passover, and the typology seems appropriate for the timing of the Gog/Magog scenario of Ezekiel -- which will SEEM like Armageddon. Haman has been viewed as a "type" of antichrist, and the prophecy of Ezekiel specifically calls the defeated forces of Gog/Magog "Haman - Gog". Some groups among religious Jews believe that the messiah himself will miraculously come and build a new temple in Jerusalem. However, the Bible points out that men will build the temple, and messiah will come soon after. Adherents to the former view are vulnerable to the lies of a false messiah. When the Antichrist makes possible the miraculous restoration of sacrifice on the temple mount, many in Israel, and the world, will view this as evidence that he is the long awaited messiah. Without faith in Jesus, many will be blinded to the facts and timing of prophecy.
